This was originally a Chinese restaurant. Then they decided to cash in on Indian food by opening the top of the restaurant as Indian food and leaving the downstairs as the original Chinese food. This is Chinese owned and trying to cash in on Indian and Thai may I add. Stick to your own food. Avoid

I ordered a pick-up through the webiste they linked (indianmahal), where there was no inofrmation that the restaurant is closed. The order got accepted the next day while the money left my bank account. No one is picking up the phone.Edit to add: received my refund few day later.

Visited after the Saba had been recommended in the Hotel guide book. The place does not sell alcohol so we started with cokes which were not fizzy. The shared veggie starter was ok. My main of a special massala was more like a korma with very little meat in it. Then my wife who is vegetarian ordered a Paneer Jalfrezi and was then served a CHICKEN Jalfrezi (good spot by me , Paneer usually comes in cubes and not slices) . They took the chicken dish away and replaced with a paneer one which was very oily.Cleanliness was poor, with cobwebs under our table and around the window. They took the price of the Paneer dish off the bill but seeing as it was 2 for 1 mains Tuesday anyway it wasn't really an apology . All in all probably worst Indian meal we've ever had.

Just had a take away from here. Wow! We had Thai fishcakes, chicken jalfreizi, saba special masala. Wonderful, sauces yummy, meat cooked perfectly. Will be back very soon.

We booked a table for 8 (7 adults and 1 child). When we arrived at the restaurant they hadn’t prepared for a table of 8 and had to quickly set one up. We were told on arrivals that on the menu the Thai food wasn’t available, and there was no alcoholic drinks. This would have been good to know before we attended as a lot of us wanted Thai. We got poppadoms quite promptly, but it took them around 20 minutes to come back and take our actual food order. We ordered our food and the 3 starters we had ordered came fairly quick. The onion bahjis looked good but the prawn pakora was just 4 small battered prawns on a huge plate with a dribble of sauce on the side and a tiny amount of salad (1 slice of dry cucumber, lemon slice and 2 lettuce leaves). The mains then took around 40 minutes to come, we asked for the child’s food to come first but it didn’t come until all of the adults food came. During our visit there were only 2 other tables of 2 that came in after us, and ordered after us and got their food before we got our food which was disappointing. The curries all came before the rices, with the rice dishes coming out 5-10 minutes after the curries so the curries had got cooler waiting for the rice. We personally will not be returning to eat in as it wasn’t a great experience. I can’t imagine how long it would have all taken had there been anymore tables. The staff were polite and apologetic. But they just were not prepared for our table - despite us pre-booking. All in all the main dishes were good, but would stick to take out from Saba in the future.

It's unexpectedly good! I was worried when I saw its rated 4.2 score, yet it became the best Indian food I ever tried! Their price is reasonable, and the favor is rich enough! I know they are training a couple of new waiters, but they are absolutely polite and kind. Highly recommended and will visit again next time!(It's the best thing to try after you are boring with burgers and fish and chips...)
