Food was out of this world, far better than I expected!

The second star is for a friendly staff. Had the worst pizza of my life. There were two of us and we each managed one slice. Stick to the chips, those are fine....

Has no idea what it is. A lovely offering two nights ago but tonight it was bar food only for casual punters. Wish I had bought a ready meal from the coop. We had a pesto pasta which despite the efforts of a CSI team would not detect any of the promised sun dried tomato. I fear this is the normal standard

My wife & I ate at this restaurant a couple of times in the evening during our recent stay at the Crown Spa in Scarborough. We had a couple of starters & mains each time, & we found that the food quality & presentation was excellent. The service was also very attentive, with Toby & Charlie looking after us exceptionally well.

We ate at Taste for my uncle’s 80th birthday. There were 12 of us, including toddlers and baby on a Saturday evening. My uncle is used to fine dining and Taste completely met his standards in terms of cuisine and service. The food was excellent and no-one had an average choice! We had a room to ourselves and service was great, particularly as it was our waitress’s first week there. Food was prompt and flexible for the kids. Smart but not stuffy or too formal. The food really was delicious and the best food I’ve tasted in Scarborough. Would definitely go again ?

Our friendly helpful waiters Charlie and Toby advised there was a new menu to choose from. My family were not disappointed as loads of variety and where children wanted pizzas the restaurant team were happy to deliver the bar menu to restaurant along with our delicious main courses. The beef and chicken dishes were amazing and extremely tasty. Staff were excellent and really went out of their way to help. Well worth a visit.

Booked a meal for two for 7pm Tuesday evening. Stayed there several times before and had lovely meals but this time almost half of menu was not available to order. I had camambert which was just ok, it had been heated to the point that it had started to go hard. My wife had pea and mint soup which was ok. My main was Coq ou vin which again was nothing special, my wife had ribeye steak with salad and new potatoes whoch were still hard. The restaurant was very drab considering it was the christmas period. Visiting in years past it was festively dressed , this year nothing to suggest christmas. Some of the light bulbs were missing so it was dark in the room and made the menu hard to read. The only good thing was the service by the two young ladies one taking orders and the other one serving the food who were polite, helpful and friendly. Sadly we are unlikely to visit the restaurant again.

Under staffed on both occasions we went in, guests queuing to get served (also observed this when we didn't go in hence why we didn't) 1 waitress trying to do everything

A complete let down, starter was ok, but chicken chass and brown looking creme brulle awful. Menu states 10% service charge will be added.

We were a party of very disabled and elderly people and the service from the staff was excellent. The food was delicious as well.

I had the misfortune in February to find myself ate the mercy of the staff at the Crown Spa hotel in Scarborough. My wife and I decided to have a spot of lunch at the Crown Spa whilst on a day trip to Scarborough. It was a nice sunny day so we decided to sit outside, which is a nice outdoor space with great views over the South Bay. We ordered at the bar - tea, coffee and some sandwiches. The lad who took the order seemed genuinely shocked that he was working in a hotel which served drinks and food and was at a loss how to take the order and pass it to the kitchen. It was comical. We placed the order at 12.05. The tea and coffee arrived at 12.20 and I reminded the waiter that we’ve also ordered some sandwiches. He’s like ‘oh, I didn’t know about that, only a member of staff has just fallen down the stairs and he’s got to go home and I’m not sure about food’. All irrelevant detail of course. After a further 20 minutes I deceived to go up to the bar to hurry things along a bit. I waited at the bar for 10 mins. I was cheesed off so I went to the reception - no one there. It was like the Marie Seleste. Eventually a young girl comes from office and says she will call someone to take my order at the bar. So off I trot back to the bar. This is funny - a bloke comes out in overalls, covered in plaster and paint and he’s like ‘can I help you pal ?’. He goes - they’re short of staff and this lads fallen down the stairs and....well I knew the rest. So I ordered more tea and enquired as to the status of the sandwiches. He looks at me all quizzical like and says ‘what sandwiches ?’. So I explained to him that this is a hotel/restaurant and I ordered some sandwiches about 40 minutes ago. So he then scurries off to find out what’s happening. So I have to go back and explain to my wife the whole debacle and this is like 45 minutes later. Sandwiches arrive at 13.10 - just over an hour after ordering them. Lots of apologies from waiter etc..The bread is hard - either out of date or been left out. By this stage we were both so hungry, they could’ve put a turd in front of me and I would got stuck in. I decided to lodge a formal complaint - the manager called Simon comes out. Whilst I am telling him what happened he keeps interrupting me and it becomes apparent that he just wants to get shut of me. This is all playing out in the reception in front of other guests who are checking in with a look of horror on their faces. Simon is starting to irritate me, so I ask him what he is going to do to make me a delighted customer. But I’m obviously an inconvenience to him, so he goes ‘I’m going to show you exactly what I’m going to do’ and he hands me a pen and paper with his email and asks to to put it all in writing and whilst I am trying to point out to him that it would be a lot easier to sort this out now, he scurries off whilst I’m still trying to reason with him. It was a proper Fawlty Towers experience. As I was leaving, one of the staff members asked me if I’d managed to speak with the manager, to which I said yes and he would benefit from some customer training, to which he laughed. I emailed him that very evening with a detailed list off all my complaints and how he could improve his customer skills. Within a few minutes I received an off the shelf, standard email, with a laughable offer of £10 voucher - which I accepted because i could not be bothered to take the conversation any further. Btw - for the ‘pleasure’ of this service, Simon and the Crown Spa charged me £35. Basil, sorry Simon needs to go on a customer skills course.
