Recently stayed here. Emma greeted us at the door and she was so lovely and helpful. Very friendly and approachable, nothing was too much trouble for her. She very kindly brought up some fresh milk for us and offered to carry out bags up the stairs. The room we were in was so nice and the bed was super comfortable. The only slight problem was the water in the shower was lukewarm not hot. The breakfast we had was amazing and Chris is an excellent cook. Would definitely book another stay for a bit longer ?Rooms: The room we were in was very well laid out and comfortable. There was tea, coffee and hot chocolate laid out with a kettle and plenty of sugar and milk. There were biscuits available which was a nice touchWalkability: Very easy to get to the beach. It's a 10 minute walk

Only stayed for a short 3 night break. Chris and Emma are friendly and are there to answer any questions you might have. We had room number 1, which was at the top of the stairs. The room was clean and tidy. It had tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Biscuits and little cartons of milk, but if you preferred you could get fresh milk. You just need to ask. The Biscuits get refreshed every day. If you need fresh towels, you just need to put the dirty ones in the shower, and you will get fresh ones. There is a welcome folder that gives you a little history about Chris and Emma, contact phone numbers for taxi firms if you require. There are also directions on how to get to the town centre if you wish to walk, it takes about 10 mins but depends on how fast you walk. If you come out of the bed and have breakfast and turn left, you can take the walk along the cliffs. There is also the cliff top lift that takes you down to the beach, which is very useful it is £2.20 return per person. There is also a lounge for the people to sit and relax in with a juke box that you could play if you wanted to.You get a breakfast card each morning to tick what you require for the next day. They cards need to be in the biwl on the dresser by 8.00pm the night before. The new ones are on your table in the morning for the following day. You just need to put your name, room no, and tick what time you would like your breakfast. You have the choice of 3 different times you just tick what time suits you. You just tick what you would like for your breakfast, and you also get asked what type of toast you'd like. You have the choice of tea and coffee as well. You help yourself to the orange juice and jams. There is a list of what the jams are for your information. Each table has room numbers on them, and that's your table for the duration of your stay.

This is a combined rating between my wife and myself. The Waves is quite a nice B&B for a few days stay, although I wish we had stayed a bit longer. Our room was on the top floor. It was quite sizeable for the price we paid and had a small lounging sofa in one corner, a king size bed with enough space for me to fit (baring in mind I'm 6"3), an en suite with a shower with 5 settings (Rain, Waterfall, Body Spray, Foot Wash and Handheld) and finally a smart TV which was on a pivot bracket allowing us to move its position and with most of the Apps you'd want for your general viewing needs. (logged in to my own CrunchyRoll, Disney+ and Youtube. Made sure to log out or reset Apps before leaving.) There were complimentary sachets of Coffee, Tea and Galaxy Hot chocolates next to the kettle with the only faucet in the room being the bathroom one. I know boiling the water kills anything that goes in, but we just bought bottled water from the Sainsbury's Local on Filey Road and left the kettle alone. There was also a welcome pack and two caramel bars on the desk when we entered. A wardrobe was at the corner of the room, however, we didn't use it. Also, if you are in need of the hair dryer, it is stored within the stool under the desk. The reason we have given a 4 star for the room is nothing that is of the fault of the owners. It looks out onto the maintenance side of the nursing home next door. So amazing room, just with a poor view. This was from Room 5, by the way.The owners I can not fault for any reason. They were a lovely pair and did their best to be friendly with us. Before arriving, we received a text asking when we'd be arriving. Upon arrival, we were given a quick introduction and a look around. Told about the breakfast ordering (Use the slip provided to choose a pre-cooked breakfast selection. We chose Greek Yogurt and Berry Compote. You could then chose a cooked breakfast. This could be Smashed Avocado with Halloumi, Smoked Salmon with Chives and something else or a Full Breakfast with bacon, sausages or Linda McCartney Sausage, Butter fried mushrooms, Heinz Baked Beans, Plum Tomatoes, Haggis or Vegan Haggis *They even put Yes, Really!* and your option of fried, scrambled or poached eggs) and that it had to be in the bowl in the foyer by 8pm. They were even kind enough to send me a message that a family member who lives in Scarborough had stopped by when we weren't there. They had come an hour early and my wife has limited mobility, so we were lucky to catch them before we left. The service they provided is one of the reasons we will be rebooking for 2025.We came by train and with too much luggage, but if we just had one suitcase and a reasonable level of health, I reckon The Waves may be within walking distance from the station. To the town at least, there is a 5 minute walk to the Scarborough Spa Tramway which leads to the beach. Another 5-10 minute walk to the Olympia Tramway (as I call it) and that will drop you at one end of the town centre. Everything on Scarborough's south bay is a reasonable distance, even for someone with limited mobility. Location for us would technically be 5 stars, but we know a lot of people do drive, so for location, it gets a 4 star review as it is muddled in with multiple one-way systems around it. There is a road that has also been closed off due to the dangers of a condemned buildings stability post fire and has allegedly not been accessible for 6 months. This could add to your travel or taxi wait times.Overall, a wonderful hotel. Hope to revisit it at the same time in 2025.

Just had a great weekend at the Waves b and b. Emma and Chris were perfect hosts. The room was spotless and the bed was really comfortable .A bit unusual for us to have a pre order for breakfast because we don’t always know what we want, but it worked really well and the breakfast was delicious and piping hot. The Waves was perfectly located for walks and it was only two minutes away from thefunicular .

Lovely decor, very modern, yet totally inkeeping with the Victorian house. Lovely breakfast. Comfy beds. Really could recommend highly. Good location to reach all parts of the town and parks , but a bit hilly.Rooms: Twin room , excellent beds.Nearby activities: Walking distance of the Italian gardens.Food & drinks: Great breakfast choices and beautifully cooked.

What a lovely find to the south of Scarborough. Emma and Chris were perfect hosts to say they only took over in February 2023 . The whole place was spotlessly clean , the bed linen was lovely and pillows as soft as advertised. The breakfast was cooked fresh next morning and it tasted as good as it looked For someone with mobility issues it’s not walkable to the centre but for us a perfect walk

We stayed for three nights recently. Chris and Emma are very friendly and welcoming hosts and as our lovely room was on the top floor we were very pleased to have our bags carried up for us! The room has quality furnishings and a very comfortable bed with stylish bedding. The shower was powerful too, despite being on the top floor. A hospitality tray is provided and even the biscuits are quality! There's a good choice for breakfast which will leave you well able to tackle the hills of Scarborough. The Waves is in a good location, just a short stroll to the cliff lift and the newly restored gardens.
