Chose to try Violet's as a venue to meet up with a friend, neither of us had been there before. Went at 1pm and was very quiet - only one other couple in there and no-one else came in after us. Inside was small but clean, cosy and pleasantly decorated. Plentiful and varied menu choices, all reasonably priced. We both chose paninis, which were nicely presented with an accompanying salad and tasted good, but the lattes we ordered weren't as hot as they could have been. Both staff members were pleasant and attentive. The only negative thing about our visit was that as we had gone there to have a "catch-up", our time was very limited. The café advertises closing time as 3pm but were asked just before 2pm if we would be wanting more drinks as the coffee maker was about to be cleaned and then, at 2.15pm, were told that the café was about to close so had to leave abruptly, which was extremely disappointing and made us question whether or not we would return in the future.

We stumbled upon this pretty cafe, during a shopping trip. It’s spacious, with unusual decor, is very clean, there is a toilet. The portions are generous. The breakfasts, although we didn’t order one, looked wonderful and varied and unusual. Mum and I both had an omelette, chips and salad and coffee. We enjoyed it, thank you! Next time we are in Selby we will come again.

We thought we may be forced to eat at Costa - until we stumbled on this place.Great food at very reasonable prices in cute surroundings. Very quirky and fun decor. Lovely welcoming smile, great cup of Yorkshire tea. Food was really tasty. I had eggs Benedict with salmon. Friend had small breakfast. Sausage and black pudding were lovely and all was well cooked. This cafe has to be the jewel in the crown in Selby. 100% in everything, everytime I go in..And their breakfasts are amazing.Vegetarian options: Yes 3 maybe 4 vegetarian optionsParking: Very limited parking outside. However spaces dotted around near byKid-friendliness: They are fabulous with the kids.

Found this little cafe tooked away down a quiet side street by accident. Wow. Food was superb and the cafe is absolutely immaculate. Fantastic service the food was cooked to perfection. From the minute you walk through the door the amount of pride the staff and owner puts into the place is instantly apparent. Lived in selby all my life and didn’t know it was even there. Definitely a returning customer here. 10/10 best cafe in selby. Highly recommended.

What a lovely little cafe, the atmosphere was relaxing the decor quaint. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The prices were very good.The sign of a good cafe, a lot of regulars in there that the staff knew by name.We will go back
