Delightful! We have wanted to dine at the Little House Restaurant for a long time but unfortunately our previous visits to the area have been mid week when they are closed. This time we travelled later so managed to get a table on the Saturday night. It was definitely worth waiting for! Upon entering we were warmly greeted, seated, given water & menus by Andrew, the owner who straight away makes you feel like an old friend. Situated in a lovely building with only a small number of covers, it exudes a wery nice, friendly, comfortable atmopshere with some nice, low key jazz playing quietly in the background. Drinks order taken whilst we perused the menu. Charcuterie platter of cured meats & parmesan & garlic King Prawns 'piri-piri' chosen to start followed by baked fillet of silver hake with lentil & vegetable cassoulet & pan fried fillet of Ribble Valley beef with a cracked black pepper, cognac & cream sauce along with a very nice bottle of red wine. A wonderful dessert named Yorkshire Mess consisting of rhubarb, meringue & all the associated creamy bits was shared as was a glass of delightful dessert wine. The timings between courses were perfect. The chef came out & we had a lovey chat with her during which we discovered a slight connection to our home town of Beverley. All in all, an extremely enjoyable, unrushed evening with great friendly service, a relaxed atmosphere & most of all, delicious food! We noticed that a lot of the diners appeared to be regulars with several making bookings for future dates which is alays a good sign of a decent restaurant.Highly recommended.**We travel to Greece quite a lot & noticed that on the first weekend of the month, The Little House present a menu influenced by different countries. The next one is a Greek evening & even though we live a couple of hours away, we have booked a table for this as the menu looked very inviting!

Certainly a must if in the area; certainly little in size but big on quality of food and service - will be back next time in the area. Booking a must btw.

We have often seen this restaurant on our occasional visits to Settle. We made the effort and booked and so glad we did. Beautiful simply cooked food with no pretentious style or ingredients just tasty dishes that I would say is bistro style. We both had sardines to start that were cooked beautifully with lemon and olive oil followed by lamb that was cooked to perfection with gorgeous sauce and the tiny roasties were perfect. Pancakes with blueberries etc for me and a gorgeous looking rhubarb mess for him that finished a lovely meal. We will be back.

We were lucky enough to be holidaying locally which coincided with one of this lovely restaurant’s themed weekends featuring a Great British Harvest. All the dishes were well thought out and beautifully presented, you could almost taste the love involved in their creation. A beautiful little place with attentive hosts, so glad we found it. If ever we’re in this corner of Yorkshire again we’ll be sure to visit!

We’ve gone to Little House for close to twenty years and never eaten so well anywhere, even in France. We know of course it won’t be to everyone’s taste, so don’t bother going to Little House if you want: • A quick snack for a fiver; • A head waiter in evening dress to sneer as you’re escorted across two acres of carpet to a booth by the toilets; • Celebrity guests and someone to park your Ferrari; • Marble tables, sparklers, screaming kids and forty varieties of pizza; • A couple of pints by the fire to wash down a ploughman’s (ploughperson’s?) lunch or a chip butty; • A fifteen page wine list from Italian paint stripper to Chateau Margaux at five grand a bottle; The room is comfortably subtle and understated (Hopper prints; quiet jazz on the hi fi) the food, ambience and service are quietly perfect. Small but imaginative menu; local produce beautifully cooked; a short but well chosen wine list – all eminently drinkable including three excellent house wines by the glass. Now re-opened (albeit for limited days: booking essential) we went there on Saturday after a break of nearly three years. Andrew and Veronica welcoming as always and in excellent form: fine dining in a hidden gem. PS: Have just spotted a TripAdvisor review I wrote three years ago: I wrote then “for occasion and delight you’d travel far to find anything like Little House”. Still true: we’ll be back.

Had a lovely meal here on a Saturday night. Food was beautiful & perfectly cooked. Atmosphere was pleasant, but quiet. The service was subtle & attentive at the same time. Prices very reasonable for such quality. Altogether a very nice experience & we will return when next visiting Settle.

I think we must of visited on a bad day.The food was average not the best I've tasted. Presentation, well enough said about that. Service by grumpy old man.and poor atmosphere lacked service skills. Very much over priced. We were served 5 prawns costing £9 your having a laughI definitely would not go again or recommend this place to anyone.
