Went to this cafe/bistro one Friday lunchtime, all the tables were full down stairs but a couple said they were just paying the bill if we wanted their table,(nice touch thanks).the food was delicious we had the cheese and cauliflower soup and a portion of chips each, just like to say it was nice to get proper chips from a potato not them frozen one’s.the service was excellent and really friendly and the young girl who served us couldn’t have been more helpful, think her name was Maria.we will definitely visit again next time in skipton, maybe to try dinner.

Another excellent meal , came in April, had to revisit when we were in the area. The food is amazing , the extra tasters very welcome. Service, ambience, everything about this small bistro makes such a enjoyable experience. Just wish we could visit more . Thank you.

Always lovely food at Greenwood bistro, but it’s also the friendly welcome and service that make this restaurant. I had my first trip out after an op on my foot, hobbled in with my husband and the staff couldn’t have been nicer, letting my rest my foot on a chair ( with coat over so all hygienic!) moving tables to help me sit in a more comfy position. Food was lovely, great prawn sandwich with hand cut chips and side salad. My husband had a lovely carrot cake. I’d really recommend their tapas nights too.

What a lovely little cafe in the heart of Skipton but just off the main street in a quaint Victorian square. I don't know the name of the woman who runs it but she is charming and engaging. We had a Mocha and hot chocolate with a beautiful warm home made scone with home made mixed berry jam. A great cafe. I hope you have a busy Christmas and new year, you deserve to do well.

What a wonderful bistro!I followed the sign from Skipton high street and ordered Eggs Zucchini. I have honestly never enjoyed such tasty eggs and courgette with a lovely hollandaise sauce. Simply brilliant, and with a good cappuccino, all prepared and served with care and a smile. This restaurant is a gem. I am just sorry I don’t live nearby to enjoy the evening menus!

Consistently excellent standard of cuisine, each course and the appetiser tasted and looked very carefully prepared and cooked. Very good value wine list.

This place is absolutely spot on. If anyone reads my previous reviews of places, you will know we don't suffer fools gladly when it comes to our choice of foods. There is absolutely no boil in the bags, no cheap ingredients bought from Aldi or Lidl and everything is FRESH and done by the chef, Helen. Lovely and cosy place, all staff go above and beyond to make your trip most enjoyable. I have heard people tell us that it is, 'Far too dear.' Well let me immediately ask you this, would you rather pay an extra couple of pounds for freshly prepared food which everyone will enjoy, or pay a little less for people in the group to leave food uneaten on their plates as it is cheap and cheerful 'tourist' food? This is an absolute gem of a place, and don't please be fooled and walk by if you see downstairs is full, as there are more tables upstairs. And if you are anything like us (a bit nosey), we looked into the kitchen area and it was absolutely spotless.

From entering this lovely, intimate restaurant to leaving, our experience was excellent. We had visited Skipton several months ago and enjoyed lunch at Greenwood’s, promising ourselves to return for dinner. So - we travelled from Bolton, stayed at the nearby Travelodge , (mmm ) and ordered taxis both ways to Greenwood’s. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our window seat table and presented with the wine menu. It was pleasing to see that there was a choice of a white and red half bottle - handy when people are choosing meats and fish. Both wines were delightful. Dinner reservations are required to contact Greenwood’s a few days before the booking after choosing from the online menu. I also understand that the restaurant offers tapas evenings and themed menus from time to time. We both enjoyed the King prawns in garlic, accompanied by a warm, toasted but soft bread, with my husband having chose the fillet steak with chips for his main course. A tasty peppercorn sauce was delivered in a small jug; this added to the succulence of the dish and the chips were home made and plentiful. I had ordered monkfish and requested that capers were omitted from the tomato based sauce. The dish was delicious from start to finish. We shared a chocolate fondant, a beautiful finish to a beautiful meal. The lady cook came to chat with us and offered us a home made liqueur to complete the meal. Lovely! Our order of coffee and Kahlua, served on a bed of ice was the perfect end. The restaurant is quite small and has an intimate feel. Music is modern and chilled adding to the ambience. On the evening we went, there were few diners but we didn’t mind this at all. We felt that Greenwood’s was open just for us! Service is personal, friendly, not intrusive and Gillian chatted to us at various points throughout the meal. Nothing was too much trouble. Whilst this restaurant is quite expensive, the food and wine is high-end, making it the perfect place for a special meal. Highly recommended.

What a suprise!!!!! Such a lesson not to judge a book by its cover! We weren't expecting much due to the size, decor, furnishings ets but wow....so wrong! We thought it'd be typical cafe fare...what they serve is so much more special. Even the basics are done to such an incredible standard that I actually can't wait to go back and will happily recommend this place to the tourists I always have asking me. I ordered an egg mayo sandwich as needed to be quick (lunch break)....obviously homemade with lots of love.....Best I have had in years.....and shock horror......it was seasoned to perfection (I've noticed a lot of places seem to be shying away from salt & pepper...moan over) . They came with a sprinkling of homemade chips just like mum used to make in the ol days with that trusty deep fat fryer. My mum had homemade Moroccan marrow soup which was beautifully favoured with delicate spices and mynsister had some deli meat sandwich with some peppered beef on it which I am now dreaming of! Really kind staff who were incredibly hard working. One minor thing is that I think the new staff member could do with a touch more training as I noticed twice they were carrying food out and holding it in place on the plate with their whole hand

What another fantastic experience we had at this wonderful restaurant for our family’s birthday celebration last weekend. Beautiful food, amazing service and a brilliant atmosphere. All ten of us agreed we would highly recommend this outstanding restaurant. Thank you!

What a gem! We had a family meal here last night and the food and service was superb. It was fine dining at its best. Flavours were fantastic, wine selections great and ambiance and service spot on. Thank you Helen and Gillian, we will be back very soon.

It was all very nice food wise. Bit steady atmosphere wise. The reason I have given 4 not 5 is because they asked if we wanted bread and then charged us £9, yes £9 for it.

Myself and my husband were blown away by the food, we eat out a lot at some lovely places but I think this food is the best I’ve ever had. The staff were attentive without being overly so and we shall certainly be going back even though we live quite a way off. Well done ladies, I loved everything about your cosy little bistro
