We came for dinner back in October. Great service and a really intimate space. I had scallops to start which were terrific. Both mains were to a high standard. There was a sort of nacho/tortilla starter my partner ordered which seemed a bit poorly conceived and not quite up to the standard of everything else. I had a lemon posset to finish, which was not the right consistency. Sadly too runny. Great selection of drinks and will definitely be back.

Wonderful evening at La Caveau. The food prepared by Mark is exceptional. The team all made our dining experience delightful. The wine expert Eric was so informative and interesting. This evening will not be forgotten and certainly spoken about to our friends. Well done Mark and team you excelled and we can't wait for the next one in March xxx

We visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening for a birthday treat. First of all, it was lovely to be greeted by Mark and his super friendly staff. We had pre ordered the Chateaubriand to share so skipped a starter so we didn't get overfull however we were given a lovely surprise of a miniature soup with bread starter which was just enough. The Chateaubriand was AMAZING!! It was seasoned and prepared beautifully and melted in the mouth. We finished the evening with a stunning blueberry dessert. The ladies who served us were extremely polite and efficient and a lovely touch was that Mark took the time to check that we had enjoyed the steak. Thank you, we will look forward to returning! I always thought, looking at the menu, it was a bit pricey. Like, you'd have to come here for real special occasions. £65 per person for the tasting menu, almost £40 for a three course? But then, I sort of had enough of bad service everywhere, and thought we'd give this place a try, after reading so many wonderful reviews. Now I can't wait to come back. Genuinely, from the moment we sat down and got a little taster soup, bread and butter after ordering, and tried it, I knew I was in love with the place. The food onwards stayed excellent. They offer either a five course menu - nothing to be changed on that, picky eaters beware, or a two course set menu. What we didn't know what that they also did specials and these could also be merged with the set prices. We tried a bit of both. Had the salmon pastrami and pork rilettes, followed by the woof and the lamb shank (I had never ordered lamb before and not a big fan of it anyway), and it was absolutely wonderful. We got complimentary sides with them, and even squeezed in some space for dessert. Had 4 alcoholic drinks, 2 starters, 2 mains, sides and a dessert for less than £100 at a genuine elegancy and taste that you can't really put a price on anyway.

Cosy cellar restaurant with just great food. Friendly staff and chef patron who loves food and cooking. Took my colleagues over from the USA - Texas and New Jersey who loved the place. Superb and interesting starters, pigeon breast, gnocchi wild mushrooms. Mains all delicious. Fresh fish from George on the market, I had John Dory others had amazing duck and nidderdale lamb. Deserts so full we had to share

We had lunch at le caveat on Wednesday June 28 with a group from Malham bridge club. The menus was pre ordered and choice limited but everyone were delighted at the quality of the food and the friendly and efficient service. We will certainly visit again and would recommend this restaurant to friend. The only downside might be the rather steep steps at the entrance which would make it almost impossible for a disabled person to negotiate. Full marks to the chef and staff.Wheelchair accessibility: Not possible

Just left this amazing restaurant ! I think we are both just speechless, and so so full . This little gem of a place hidden away in Skipton , well we have honestly gone past many times and not know it was there . I almost don’t want to share this review with too many people because we’d like to keep you to ourselves !! “Our discovery” …? But we want you to continue to serve these excellent dishes , prepared from excellent sources, the chef has exquisite techniques , concoctions , ideas, skills … it’s all a marvel to us , just a different class . The place itself is very unique in style , and ambience is lovely . The service by Jane was so warm and both made us feel very welcome and at ease. I don’t know what else to say , other than ….get yourselves to this restaurant for a special occasion , deffinately recommend . Thankyou to you both , we had a fantastic time …. So so full ….
