We were (20 of us) looking forward to a nice meal and disco, the only thing enjoyable about the night was the company and DJ, the food was very disappointing, poor quality from an establishment that has a very good reputation. The desert was the worst thing, I felt like we were fobbed off with the food & a couple of people were missing stuffing & chipolatas. Won't be back next year.

We booked a family meal and when we called they asked us to pre order our starters and mains which was strange. Then when we arrived we had to wait 40 minutes for the starters to arrive. Mine was lukewarm and the others weren’t very exciting. Next, the mains arrived and were average at best. I had slow cooked lamb but it was dry and tough. My wife had beef rib but there was more fat than beef and it didnt fall off the bone as it should have done. One person had the burger which was overcooked and dry. There were also problems with some of the other meals with comments ranging from tasteless to average. Desserts were ok and no complaints. The staff were nice and were quick with drinks but we were just underwhelmed by the food and won’t go back which is a shame because it is a nice place in general.

Great service from Hungarian lady. Food was average. BUT do not order the catch of the day. Large party so ordered in advance having seen wet fish for sale. It was unbelievably abysmal and no one could make recompense. Four small prawns on kebab with chorizo for £18!!

A family group of seven of us booked for Sunday lunch. I had requested when booking that we eat outdoors in the Courtyard as we were at the end of a week of sunny days. On arrival the staff member greeting us (the Manager?) suggested that we should eat indoors as he felt that it was about to rain, whilst flashing the weather forecast app at me on his mobile phone as he spoke. Our group agreed to this and were then shown to a table in the restaurant by a young waitress. We felt the menu was quite limited but 5 of us ordered the Sunday roast which was very good. There was a lack of atmosphere in the restaurant, a lack of any other diners and hardly any staff visible. We eventually had plates cleared and ordered from the dessert menu. We then waited and waited …. and waited. After approximately 30 minutes one of our party went back to the Reception desk to ask that our desserts were chased up. They were then brought to the table but unfortunately three of the six desserts ordered were inedible. Rhubarb crumble was a watery mush and “cheesecake” was a sundae dish with rock solid biscuit in the base and a soft, creamy topping on top of it. When I once again approached the staff member on Reception (seemingly the only person around) to advise that the three desserts were inedible and that I wanted them to be taken off the bill, he wanted to come over to our table to see these desserts. He proceeded to peer at them and prod them with a spoon, somewhat bizarrely. He then took all three away but at no time was there ANY apology. In summary, the Sunday roast food was lovely but the desserts were very poor. Our group won’t return to eat here due to the limited menu and the lack of any atmosphere, but mainly due to the incredibly slow service and the poor attitude of the Manager/Staff member. It didn’t rain either!

I had the sweet corn fritters to start very nice but the batter was a bit dense and doughy, my sister has the lamb koftas which she really enjoyed. She has the chicken supreme as a main and loved it, I had the burger which was nice but huge 2 patties rather than one. A very pleasant lunch

We were impressed with in-hotel Rhubarb Restaurant. Fairly small restaurant with a large bar and comfy lounge area, it is pleasantly designed and decorated in neutral colours, pictures and lighting. WE used the restaurant for lunch and breakfast. Breakfast was varied with continental, hot and cold and vegetarian options, the Yorkshire Breakfast was especially well cooked and very tasty. The lunch-time snack menu eaten in the comfy lounge was certainly varied and good value for money.

Prices and serving sizes are in line with a gourmet restaurant, but sadly the taste and quality does not live up to that. Mushroom pasta swimming in water, over salted fish pie and don’t get me started on the squirts of goats cheese served as a starter. Our wine arrived after everyone had finished eating their meal. The staff are doing their best, but the food lets them down.

Good choice, very good service and enjoyable food

Had a great afternoon tea with gin. Great pre booked without cheese so extra sausage rolls which were really appreciated as they were home made as explained to us.

Whenever we visit Skipton, Herriots (opposite train station) is our first port of call. We love the upmarket public bar and always enjoy a few drinks / cocktails. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Unfortunately not been able to stay here yet as always booked up when we want to stay.

We had a girly family get-together Sunday the 4th of September at Herriots, and I can say with absolute certainty that it was the best afternoon tea I've ever had. We had an absolutely amazing time, the decor and atmosphere was beautiful and the staff were incredible! Can not rate this place enough, will be back soon!
