A great cooked breakfast and flat white coffee. Lovely service and the place looks great. Some interesting cakes on display. The menu has changed quite a bit with the new owners. Will definitely go back. Thanks .

Great coffee and the side salad with lunch was lovely. But such a shame the amazing paninis that Becketts was famous for seemed to have gone. The toastie I had was not great seemed to have lots of tomato purée in it. Wouldn’t order it again. Please bring back the old paninis!

1st time in with either new staff or new owners. Coffee so hot it burned my tongue and lips - no permanent damage will be okay again within a week! Was given some cold milk to cool it down (which I asked for). Scone was like a cheap shop bought scone. Think need to invest in a milk thermometer! £6 - photo below, staff had no idea what I was talking about so not seasoned baristas or coffee drinkers! No sandwiches (were going to have as machine had broken).

Excellent vegan breakfast and a lovely coffee with oat milk served here. Breakfast included: sausages, mushrooms, tomato, avocado, potatoes, beans, scrambled tofu and toast! Thank you so much, really enjoyed it!

Very, very good. Snug and cosy, dog friendly café. Friendly and welcoming service. Nota bene: hot food stops being served at 2pm. Incredible range of teas available. Very reasonably priced menu with good choices for vegetarians and vegans. I had the spiced coconut, chickpea and lentil soup which was also gluten free. It was a good portion and very thick and tasty. Lovely clean and nice smelling loo. Really liked it here at Beckett's and shall definitely revisit again. Recommended.

We went for breakfast on two mornings while attending the Levitation electronica music festival. The range of vegan and vegetarian food was substantial and my wife had the meat option on a cooked breakfast and sausage and egg sandwich over the two days. Really attentive staff, friendly and the food was top notch. I usually visit Whitby once a year and this is a must visit for a cooked breakfast option. Recommended but gets very busy due to the popularity of the place.

Went for lunch, arrived at 2.05pm and we were told they don't serve hot food after 2pm. We were famished. Just didn't feel the same welcome we used to enjoy and funnily enough it was the first time in 11 years our old dog didn't stand at the door waiting to get in. Disappointing that they wouldn't accommodate us, clearly trade must be good. won't go again where we're not welcome.

Hot chocolate and cake to die for, well worth the trek away from the main tourist area. In fact, I think the walk burns off the exact same amount of calories which you will intake, in cake and chocolate. Which makes everything zero calories. Win win in my book.

GORGEOUS gourmet tasting food, I had the coconut soup which is divine! The cakes are homemade and also beautiful! Coffee is exceptional! I am Gluten Free as a coeliac and had no problems here at all. Lovely staff who couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. Highly recommend ??

Just had lunch here. Lovely panini and Buddha bowl. Cake was very moist and tasty. Friendly staff. Wish we had found it sooner as off home

It was a Wednesday and this cafe seemed to be one of the very few open. Three of us had their soups, coconut and lentil; and tomato and lentil. They were very substantial thick bowls of what was more like dhal than a soup, and very tasty.

Best soup ever and great choice. Cakes unbelievably moist, and fab paninis. Plus a delightful atmosphere.

Salad was very tired and wilted and needed to be replaced with fresh crisp salad leavesBread was not fresh and was breaking up as we tried to eat our paniniThe filling was not what we are used to as when the previous owners were there the beckaninis were bursting at the seamsWe would have liked to finish on a nice slice of cake but the selection was minimal and sparse to say the leastNot a single table check to enquire whether the food was ok and we were happy with our selectionThe dragon sausage was quite tangy and not what we’re used toVeggie bowl options on the menu but no bowl option for meat eatersAlso far too many dogs allowed in at the same time in a relatively small spaceQuite disappointed to say the least and definitely crossed off the list for the future

The menu is not extensive but all the options are top notch! We had vegan spiced coconut and lentil soup and every mouthful was a dream!!! It was dog friendly too and they provided towels for the dogs to dry their paws on but we used them to settle the dogs who are used to lying on blankets, the dogs felt comfortable and settled straight away and soon dozed off to sleep.

A superb choice of sticky baked cakes and lose leaf herbal teas. There's also a good selection of second hand books to read and buy while there. Would highly recommend going here.
