Humble Pie n Mash Ltd

Best pie and mash shop on the cosmos and I know my stuff having lived in Turkey for many years. God I miss my Turkish wife who ran a pie and mash shop in Istanbul, she kept the house in excellent order and was an amazing cook as well. However we must move on in life and this certainly isn’t the forum to be discussing such things. I really do apologise. Good pie and mash- thank you.

Trenchers

Freshest scampi and crumbfried haddock I’ve had in a long long while. The chips were slightly overdone, just the way I like them, I ate more than I should’ve probably. The restaurant is busy, even at lunch time on a week day. Service is warm and attentive.

The Black Bull Inn

Whilst staying in some local accommodation we visited this pub 3 times and had no issues at all.The place is traditionally warm snug and relaxed with no modern distractions.Food was very tasty, wholesome & very generous. Not often that we can’t manage a dessert.Staff are very relaxed, polite and attentive.In challenging times this place is a breath of fresh air.

Magpie Café

I am disabled and was worried about the steps outside the Magpie Cafe. I am so happy that they have a lift from the ground, all the way up. It is located in their takeaway shop. I had crab and chips, definitely the best that I have ever tasted. Thank you, I will be back.Wheelchair accessibility: A great lift, for anyone with disabilities.

Botham's of Whitby ~ Skinner Street

My favourite shop in Whitby well worth a visit. Much more than a standard bakery top quality great service huge range and large portions. Cakes divine and a filled Stotty is a meal in itself. You won't be disappointed!

The Fisherman's Wife Whitby

The fisherman's wife is a brilliant restaurant in Whitby. We have been most times we go to Whitby and the food is always fantastic, staff are brilliant and the views over the sea are unbelievable. Deserts are cracking also. Highly

Fish Cottage

Great Food here, best fish taco i have ever had ! Lovely set up out front, nice to sit out in the sun, with a really good atmosphere. Dog friendly as well. Service was incredible , left a bagpack behind me and the staff said they would post it to London to make sure I got it back safely ! 10/10

THE FOUR SEASONS RESTAURANT

The chicken wings were under cooked and this was pointed out to several staff members and was responded with a shrug of shoulders. The seating plan is too cramped and the door to the toilet caused a constant draft every time it was used. There was no hand soap in the ladies/disabled toilet and a child's high chair was stored in there.

Albert's Eatery & Museum of Whitby Jet at Wesley Hall

We usually eat here in the evening but unfortunately they do not seem to open in the evenings at the moment so went here for lunch instead. The food is still outstanding but the level of service has dropped and does not seem as professional as on previous occasions.

Gino's Pizza

Collected our order, which was ready on time.The place had a buzz about it and was busy, which is a sign of a good takeaway.Food was nice and hot when we got home.Fries were spot on and really tasty.Pizza was fresh and you could taste all the individual ingredients on the pizza.Will defiantly be ordering again.

Harry's Lounge Bar & Brasserie

Lovely bar on the front, you can eat here but we only had drinks. Atmosphere was good.Staff were very polite and good at the job.We had drinks and cocktails, cocktails were really good, a little expensive but it's not often we have them.Also the visit was made even better by the annual Whitby Santa tractor run, absolute class.

Duke of York Whitby

My family just spent two nights with our dogs over bank holiday weekend in the hotel. What an amazing transformation this pub/hotel has had. We stayed in rooms 5 and 7 which had beautiful views over Whitby harbour. It was lovely to wake up to the coastal atmosphere each morning, from the sound of waves to local wildlife.The rooms are finished to a high standard, and decorated very tastefully. The staff were so accommodating, they allowed us to leave our luggage in a safe place before check in, and carried our bags up to our rooms for us.We had a breakfast each morning which set us up well for a busy day exploring a beautiful town. Everything about our trip was easy- from checking in to paying… to rebooking! We enjoyed our stay so much, we booked on the spot for next Easter- thank you for a wonderful stay, we’ll see you again next year!The Fletchers

After reading some negative reviews I was slightly dubious about ordering from here. I was however pleasantly surprised. The delivery guy arrived in a timely manner, food was hot, portions were plentiful and the food was delicious.

Abbey Wharf Indoor Market

Last minute decision for a Birthday tea as our Hotel cancelled food that evening and we needed somewhere dog friendly to eat and we were certainly not disappointed. We had the calamari rings and whitebait as a starter and can honestly say they were best we have had then followed by the morney which again was delicious and perfectly cooked . I managed to squeeze in the sticky toffee pudding which was a very good size and very satisfying. The staff were very friendly and efficient, I would definitely recommend the Abbey wharf !!!

Papa's Fish and Chips Whitby

Popped into Papa’s whilst in Whitby for a few days. First visit but our food was lovely and our host, Lewis, was a great friendly and helpful guy. I had cod and chips and the batter was so light and crisp - not at all greasy or heavy - was delicious. As were the chips and peas. Being the heathen I am, I also indulged in the curry sauce and it was lovely, fruity and tasty. All in all a great visit, with views over the bridge to the old town and the abbey. We will return.

Passage To India

We had a takeaway so didn’t sit in but the staff were super welcoming and friendly. The food was so so good, so good in fact we had another meal delivered the following evening.

Beckett's

What a fabulous dog friendly cafe that makes you and your pooch feel so very welcome. We visit every day when in Whitby and can honestly say that the coffee and homemade cakes are just awesome. The menu has something for everybody's taste and you certainly will not be disappointed. The owners and staff go out of their way to create an environment that you will want to return to again and again. Long live the small businesses. We wish you well and long may Becketts continue. X

Sherlocks Coffee Shop

OMG! This place serves THE BEST fruit scones with jam and cream. Every time I head into Whitby, this is my all-time favourite treat. Dog friendly, welcoming, and comfortable. I'd recommend if you take a trip to Whitby! (If you can find a seat).

Quayside

Would definitely go back, service was good and fast, food was nice and good size portions, something for everyone, my daughter enjoyed her kids chicken nuggets+chips, prices pretty much average for coastal sit in chippy.

Mister Chips

I had haddock and chips with mushy peas. It was delicious! The service was great. It was quiet when I was there, so not much atmosphere. But it was very clean and the staff were very nice.

Silver Street Fisheries

Always a must when in Whitby...great fish and chips at a decent price. A bit limited on the opening times but suppose it was November. Food cooked to order...great!

Robertson's chips away

Finally a place in Whitby that doesn't fry in beef dripping! Called in today for a large tray of chips, a very generous portion that me and partner couldn't even finish between us ?.The chips were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious, this will be our go-to place from now on whenever we're visiting ?Vegetarian options: Trying to find anywhere in Whitby that doesn't fry in Beef dripping I extremely difficult. Very impressed with the vegan and veggie options as well as the gluten free options too

Lush Coffee

While on a short break in Whitby we found this amazing little cafe, food was amazing as were the staff, we will definitely be back time allowing while in Whitby,It's a must visit place a little hidden gem ?

The Singing Kettle

A brilliant wee find. Had breakfast(not for the feint or those dieting) and on day we left, a takeaway bacon buttie. Both times the food was amazing and at incredible price. Barry from stokers made the most perfect cake for my wife’s 50th birthday, absolutely brilliant cake and just what I asked for , if you’re looking for a top quality cake Barry is your man ,

Clara's

A great little ice cream/coffee shop on the West Cliff. Great that it opens late (as late as 9pm in summer) so if pubs are not your thing you can go and get a milkshake and sit out under the fairy lights.

Java

Dietary restrictions: I got a gluten free full English, the staff knew all about the allergens without disappearing to check a book which tells me they know what's what. It was absolutely delicious and came really quick even though they said there would be a bit of a wait. The gluten free toast was some of the best I've had, really tasty almost like the real thing.

Birch Hall Inn

This is a little gem. Very small pub with limited capacity very old world bar. Lovely because it’s so some and only a few table people actually talk to each other. Really lovely atmosphere and the landlord is a gem really lovely and friendly.in a fantastic place and a fantastic beer garden it will be beautiful in the summer sat outside.

Whistle Stop Tea Rooms

Wow is all I can say went in for a roast dinner best place we've visited for a Sunday dinner we will be returning all the food we saw being served looked lovely reasonably priced and good portions will be back again and luckily it wasn't too

The Fleece

Great pub with very accommodating staff and regulars. The outside seating area has been extended and looks great. Perfect for the warmer days, watching the world go by on the river. Love this place ?

Sandgate Coffee & Delights

Amazing little bakery and coffee shop too. The lady who served us was so lovely and chatty. She was interested in us and where we came from etc and recommended this weeks special offer which was a cup of tea and flapjack for £2.50. What amazing flapjacks and coffee , so fresh and tasty. Excellent value for money too. Thank you for our lovely afternoon treat

The Endeavour

Really friendly pub, very welcoming, doesn't do food but allows you to go to chippy and bring food back you just need to clear your rubbish into a bin outside. Great beer at good prices. Allows dogs and has dog treats menu!

Black Horse Inn

Lovely little pub staff very friendly good selection off beers , ciders , winesFood & drinks: Good selection of beers , ciders , spirits it's not cheap but nice if you are on holiday

Greedy Pig

Beautiful food but lacked any friendliness/interaction from the staff. The female was eating chips at the counter while the male did the service. Don't ever become complacent with a business. Your customers are your success, treat them with gratitude not ignorance. Food was beautiful though.

Whitby Brewery Ltd

An amazing place to have a great pint in a lovely setting next to the Abbey.The beer was fantastic and the homemade pizza was so nice and a definite added extra. Highly recommend visiting here when visiting Whitby.

The Coliseum Centre

If you don't use it we'll loose it. Community hub and whoever picks the films for film night have superb taste. Drinks served, wonderful service from staff and a great asset.

Fish Box - Whitby

We always go to the Fish Box when in Whitby. Chips are cooked to perfection and they have beans as well as peas. Some plant based options too when ch is a nice touch.See you again soon.
