Couldn't figure out how to find the place

I fail to see how this place can remain open. Greasy and tastless food, rude staff and extortionate prices. Our breakfast was undercooked, sausages were pretty much raw. When we complained we were told "they're fine and the chef is experienced". No offer of refund or fresh food. I'd avoid. Much nice places to eat in Whitby.

Not a cafe anymore but an extension of the sweet shop next door

Nice sweet shop ... but the cafe is no more! Although the sign is still up outside on the wall for food, the cafe has closed as we went in and asked.

Best breakfast I never had. Because it is now a sweet shop and ice cream parlour.Which was a brutal surprise upon arrival, after carefully selecting this cafe from the excellent (and recent) Google reviews and photos. So if you are reading this review whilst trying to find some food then unless your diet is 100% sugar then I would avoid this place!Leaving a 3 star review because to be fair, the sweet shop is nice looking, it's just not what we were expecting at all!Kid-friendliness: Kids will love it here. They'll be like kids in a sweet shop.Dietary restrictions: Diabetics should avoid.

What a lovely little cafe!On a recent family day out in picturesque Whitby, we found ourselves in need of a lovely cuppa and a slice of cake to keep our spirits high and energy up. We've passed by Jane's Kitchen many a time we've been in the town, but decided that this time we'd have to give them a try.Despite such a small location, the team has made a great use of the available space, with comfortable seating afforded at a handful of tables. The food, drinks and snacks on offer are delicious and lovingly prepared by friendly staff, with prices reasonable to all pockets.Having enjoyed an array of cakes, toasties and drinks, we would definitely recommend popping into Jane's Kitchen if you're in need of some well deserved sustenance in the gorgeous port of Whitby.

Visited on a busy goth weekend day however the staff were very friendly and served us in good time with a delicious breakfast.

Where to begin, we sat down at our table and waited 15 minutes to be spoken to whilst inane idle chit chat, was then finally asked what we would like to order, of course we were ordering fish & chips/drinks/scones etc, we then waited another 10 minutes for the waitress to come back with the drinks already served/opened to be told that they had run out of fish....and since the waitress employed this ambush tactic of bringing along the drinks we felt as though we had to stay and pay for the drinks, if the waitress had been able to put 2 & 2 together then common sense could have prevailed, for example she could have come over and told us straight prior to serving drinks and said "we have run out of fish, do you want to order something else or just leave it, I would understand" but no. Of course if we were told from the outset that there was no fish left then we would not have bothered to stay. The chips were also somewhat oily but enjoyable I suppose, hence 2 stars for the food, would avoid.

Super friendly and really great food. I felt as if I'd been going there regularly. Chat with staff like old friends. Food was so so tasty. Breakfast and pot of tea enough for two cups was just what I needed.Kid-friendliness: Not really spare for wheelchairs but a babe in arms was there same time as me and staff interacted with him too.Parking: Cafe is in a pedestrian street and you wouldn't be able to park on nearby roads.Wheelchair accessibility: I dare say you could get a wheelchair in but there would be no room for movement and you could block access to other tables. You'd also have to either go in or leave in reverse.

Service without a smile. Ran by very stern unfriendly people.Full English breakfast ...Wouldn't swap 2 x sausages for hash brown. Had to pay £1.75 extra for hash browns. Said sausages were frozen catering cheap type. Had to pay before it came, this was obviously due to the fact they knew it would take 20 mins to arrive so we didn't leave. Entirely awful in every way. They represent whitby very badly.

Staff very unfriendly, hadn't got the meal I wanted and then when I tried to order the children's meal of fish fingers for my adult autistic son (who doesn't like large meals) was told in no uncertain terms that they couldn't do it because the meals were only for children under the age of 11. I asked why that would be problem as we were also ordering 2 more adult meals to be told that if the owner came in she would go mad. We have been in numerous cafe's, pub's in and around where we are staying near Pickering and have never been denied ordering the child's meal until We got to this cafe in Whitby. If you want a friendly atmosphere, avoid this place. We ended up in Botham's which was a much better experience by far, staff couldn't do enough to please.

Staff were stern and unfriendly not a smile to be seen the whole visit. Refused to swap 2 sausages for hash brown on the full English which cost me £1.75 extra bringing a very low quality breakfast to £10. Overall it's totally overpriced for the quality. Shop around some places serving high quality breakfasts with fresh ingredients for far less, and with a sprinkle of happiness for free.

A decent quality home style meal for a stop off at lunch time! I went for the pie and chips which was good. The pie was extremely tasty as were the chips and peas, I could have just done with the gravy being slightly thicker! My partner went for the lasagna which she really enjoyed too! Friendly staff and good customer service! For nut allergy sufferers staff are knowledgeable about items on the menu!
