Well where to start, what a little gem of a bar!! Great service (above and beyond) great beer and an absolutely perfect venue for a beer and a couple of hours of people watching. We will be back sampling the cocktails and chatting to the lovely staff and customers. Can’t recommend it enough

Booked a taxi from Sleights to Whitby on New Year's Day and was lucky to be driven by Jo, the best driver in town. Mentioned we fancied a cocktail so she literally drove us to the door of The Blitz. Had another encounter with the gorgeous Jo later when she came all the way back to give me my purse that I had left in her car. Unfortunately we only got to spend about 1 hour in The Blitz but absolutely loved it. The ambience and atmosphere is exactly what I love and want in a drinking hole. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. I am now a fan of stout as recommended by the amazing owner. I know he will get a big head, as mentioned by the lovely lady behind the bar but he was just gorgeous. From bringing round baby guinesses to refusing to put blackcurrant in my drink (he was right by the way). Every time I go to Whitby in the future, I will be going here. Absolutely loved it, thank you!

Always a great atmosphere. 'Characters' seem to gather here. I always enjoy the banter. Friendly, helpful staff and a great range of interesting drinks!

Dog friendly bar with a good choice and 2 for £14 cocktails. Enjoyed a drink here x 2, once outside & once inside. Returned on the Thursday to find it closed ? Think there may have been staffing issues. Friendly guy and nice cosy atmosphere.Kid-friendliness: No kids!Parking: Parking is in public car parks by the swing bridge or in the streets nearby. No parking outside bar.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp up to seating area from bar and think would be ok from the street

We called in today for a couple of drinks with our dog and were made so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for the guys who served us (sadly didn't get their names). Would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back.

This is a brand new bar, the owner has had the premises less than a month. We stuck our heads in as he was closing early because people were walking past because they still think it's a restaurant. Good on him that he served us a couple of beers just as he was literally closing the doors for the night. This place has a lot of promise if the lad whose running it's ambition has anything to go by ??

Under new ownership, and reopened as the Blitz Tap & Tales. Fantastic experience, Theakstons beers, great range of cocktails. Enjoy a delicious cocktail and watch the world hobby on the cobbles of Church Street.

Great location, just over the bridge towards the Abbey. Portions were incredibly generous and tasted great. We had a bit of everything and it was really good value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. I was sorry to see they had to put up a notice telling customers that some of the staff were new and to be patient with them as they were still figuring things out. One of the most depressing things about 2022 has been seeing notices everywhere reminding people to stop verbally abusing staff. People need to relax and cut people some slack. Everyone is going through a tough time, there is no reason to be a d*ck about it.

Great place, lovely food. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Premises clean and tidy. Good mix of locals and tourists. Well worth a visit. Better booking then it helps everyone. I'am a regular visitor to Whitby and it is very difficult to judge how many people will be about, particularly in the winter time. But from my experience you will always be made welcome here

Called in for a cocktail. Ordered a fluffy cloud and a Sicilian Lemon. Both drinks were very tasty. Decided to try the tapas platter which was also very nice. The Calamari was nice and crunchy, the meatballs were well flavoured and the garlic mushrooms were really nice as well. Staff were helpful and couldn’t do enough. Would definitely visit again
