Best thing about the abbey is there is a brewery nearby! A good selection of interesting beers and some great outdoor seating. Staff were really pleasant :)

Whitby Brewery opposite the Abbey is an excellent place to stop for a drink. They make a beautiful dark beer called Whitby jet, Along with a variety of other beers. There is indoor seating available they have also had live music on and Morris dancing when I have visited. Apart from selling draught beer they also sell bottles for you to take home. It is very popular in the summer and worth a visit.

Oh my God. What a find at the top of the hill after clinging 199 steps, discovering God(!) and wandering past a ruined abbey.Delightful location, sublime beers and fresh pizza cooked too! This is my church ⛪️

A day trip to Whitby is not a day out without a visit to the brewery on the hill, it was a lovely day out and the beer and cider was lush, bought 12 bottles of their finest ales from the Abbey Blonde to the Whitby Whaler and the Saltwick Nab and the IPA.I can say, love them all and will be back for more.Up the steps and round the corner a must visit for any ale lover.Update, second order of ales bought, with Jet Black on this order as it says on the label Dark, Rich and Smooth, if you like them dark then this is one for you.

Above whitby town on the east cliff, whitby brewery ales are served on the brewery site.(Usually a queue) loads of seating outside. Well worth the climb up from the town. ?

Really enjoyed this tour learning about the brewing process and the type of beers on offer. Devon made the tour interesting and informative but the highlight was the tasting of 3 beers at the end. The beers on offer vary according to the time of the year/season. We also enjoyed sitting outside afterwards (in October… couldn’t believe how lucky we were with the weather) for extra tastings from the bar and the pizzas were very popular with the kids!

Always a popular place to visit when we come to Whitby. Great selection of beers. Great location over looking Whitby Abbey. Plenty of seating inside and out. Toilets available. Friendly staff. Wood fired pizzas are available on an evening. Querky inside seating, but certainly gives it character. We will be back!
