We ordered a gluten free pizza and a normal pizza and the gluten free pizza has hardly no cheese or sauce on it at all(wouldn’t call this a pizza) and then with the normal pizza the dough was see through. Didn’t have time to take it back as we were going to a concert.We have had issues with other pizza express’s in the past but this just topped them all. I will not use pizza express again, it’s terrible considering the price you have to pay. DO NOT USE THIS PIZZA EXPRESS AT ALL

We ate in the downstairs section, the upstairs part was not open to diners, maybe a staffing issue, as we saw quite a few people turned away. The food was good and waitress was helpful. However the layout made it seem cramped.

Had an absolutely delicious pizza here yesterday; bottom just crispy enough, nice fluffy edges, service attentive but not invasive. Perfect! They might not have the beautiful interior of the Lendal branch, but the staff front and back of house are superior (although in the Lendal manager's defence, he is excellent). Thank you!

Came in for lunch yesterday and only the downstairs area was open so it felt a bit cramped. Service was quick and friendly but felt a bit intrusive as the waitress station was right by our table- not their fault as it was where they were meant to be, but it felt like we were being hovered over the whole time. Pizza was very good as it always is from Pizza Express. Was a little surprised at the bill- over £60 for 2 pizzas, starters and 2 soft drinks, but I suppose everything has gone up in price recently!

I’ve sampled Pizza Express in many locations but I have to say the experience at Sampson Square in York was exceptional. We were made to feel so very welcome the moment we walked in the door and service was quick and great. We will definitely return to this particular Pizza Express again and again due to this great experience. Thank you to all the staff for giving us such a great evening
Service was slow yet there was hardly anyone in there. Large bottle of prosecco was served unopened and we were asked to open it ourselves. They forgot one of our desserts and we had to remind the staff. The other dessert wasn't served as it was shown on the website. The cleanliness was very poor especially in the downstairs disabled access toilet.
