Excellent community pub with a good range of real ales. Great atmosphere as always and so much like sitting in your front room! New upholstery! Bestbpub in York. Just keeps getting better and better! The house 'Bluebell IPA' is a fantastic ale. What more can I say!

A quaint, small pub in one of the labyrinthine areas of the city of York. Small, cosy, most definitely worth a visit.

Great little traditional pub with real ale. Its a throw back to real pubs. If that's what you like its got it all.

Really lively tiny local. Good cask options. Stuck with the Ruby Mild on both occasions. Locals happy to chat about the history of the pub.

Why did someone not tell me about this place on previous visits to this magnificent city? Suffice to say I made up for lost time by rearranging my social diary and spending the afternoon in this cracking establishment instead of going to the football which was my earlier intention. The beers hit the back of the net. Superb pub, full of character and characters. Loved it.

Great traditional pub with some fantastic ales. It can be a bit 'cosy' at busy times as it isn't very big...
Small, tiny in fact!! Two rooms with bar in-between - great beer selection. Friendly work good atmosphere - well worth a visit (if you can squeeze in!)

Didn't eat. Staff and atmosphere very relaxed and friendly.

Responding to the last review. No one was shocked, they were far too loud for this pub (coming from a 30 year old). The barmaid handled the 'booting' with politeness and grace. In regards to the pub, a great night if you want proper beer, proper chat, and a proper feel from way back when.

Had an amazing hour, talked to locals, was all good, then told they won’t serve us anymore because we was too loud. Everyone in the bar was shocked!Absolutely gutted! Will not visit again.
