Beautiful old manor type property, very well maintained and catering regularly for Weddings. Beautiful and extensive grounds. One of our close friend's niece, who had meticulously planned her wedding over a year ago at this venue. They have built in the extensive grounds, a 'sympathetic' styled Orangery, a short walk away from the main house, with a path leading to the reception hall after the ceremony, which is also matching the style of the main hotel. The service was held in the Orangery, with us all blessed with beautiful weather to have a few canapes and drinks before the reception. The hotel's commitment to detail, was excellent, although I know the bride, with her extensive planning for around 200 guests, had made a good number of the arrangements, but management and staff followed these in a meticulous way: Staff excellent here and very well trained. They have in this hotel around 28 rooms I believe, all well appointed and to a very good standard, rooms I saw. If the number of guests exceed their capacity, they have arrangements with nearby hotels, as they did for some of the bride's guests. On site there is a gym and a very large outside heated plunge pool. The only wedding I've ever attended where there was a choice of menu..all perfectly served..food absolutely excellent: At a large venue like this, if you receive a meal which was of a good standard in line with a decent restaurant for a table of say 4, this was very acceptable. There was a relatively new functions manager here, who certainly is a 'find'.. very personable, easy on the eye (Woops..too woke) and a staff, either inherited or trained to an excellent standard. Faultless place for a stay, or a wedding venue: Well done!

We got married at Barton Hall in August and the day was perfect! It is a truly beautiful and unique venue and our guests could not speak more fondly of Barton Hall! Majority of guests said it was the BEST food they had ever had! The staff were extremely helpful from our first viewing and went above and beyond to make our day special! We are so grateful for the memories at Barton Hall and we will certainly be back for our wedding anniversary for a trip to the spa!

Barton Hall - what can I say, you gave us the best day of our Lives, one we will treasure forever. Thank you for hosting our wedding at the gorgeous Barton Hall, so glad we had the exclusive package - truly felt so magical. All staff were amazing, food was delicious, rooms were perfect, Orangery was dreamy, and you even gave us the weather. Friends and Family were overwhelmed by it all as were we, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, just wish we could do it all again. Anyone considering having their wedding here, do not doubt it for a second - they made our dreams come true. Thank you. Mr and Mrs Shipley.

Great place to stay, the meal in the restaurant was excellent, also a nice spot to sit outdoors in the garden, also very handy if you want to visit Wicksteed Park! Adults have use of the spa facilities if required.

We had our wedding here last Saturday! It was the most amazing weekend from the Friday - Sunday! Our day was absolutely perfect and this was a credit to all the staff from front of house to the chefs/housekeeping. All of our family had the most amazing time and commented how amazing the venue/rooms were! Food was incredible on the Friday night as well as the wedding breakfast so please ignore any of the negative comments. Thank you Barton Hall for making our wedding weekend perfect x

I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting Barton Hall Garden Spa with a party of 12 guests, and I must say that it was one of the most disappointing spa visits I've ever encountered. From the lack of communication to the poor customer service, the entire experience left much to be desired. Upon booking, I had spoken to Alice, who initially seemed kind and helpful. She assured me that we could add treatments closer to the date, a statement that was also reiterated in the confirmation email. However, when I inquired about the range of available treatments. The response I received was not only abrupt but also shockingly unhelpful. It's clear that the team lacks proper training in customer service and communication, leaving customers feeling undervalued and disregarded. What's even more disappointing is the fact that there was no communication whatsoever about the spa no longer offering treatments. My group and I were left in the dark, missing out on what we had booked and paid for. I made multiple requests for a call from the manager to address these concerns, but those requests were ignored, adding to the overall frustration. During our visit, the level of service we received was far below what one would expect from a reputable spa. It's no wonder why there were so few other patrons around during our visit – the lack of service is truly off-putting. This experience reflects poorly on the spa's reputation, and I can't help but wonder how many other potential customers have been similarly disappointed. While the afternoon tea offered a glimmer of satisfaction, even that had its shortcomings. The limited options available for gluten or dairy-free guests were not up to par. A single cucumber and tomato sandwich hardly suffices, especially when the establishment claims to offer quality culinary experiences. Given the lack of response to my concerns, I'm left with no choice but to share my experience. I hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for others considering a visit to Barton Hall Garden Spa. It's a shame that what could have been a pleasant and relaxing experience turned out to be anything but. As a paying customer, I expected more, and I hope that management takes this feedback onboard and works towards improving their services for the future.

I stayed two nights - while visiting a festival nearby - and enjoyed the experience. The hotel is exactly what one would wish: grand yet friendly, quirky but efficient - and really not so expensive. Of particular note: the comfy bed, the fun staff, and the impeccable standard of cleaning.

I sensed things weren’t going to go well at Barton Hall when I had to telephone twice to ask for an email to confirm my booking for lunch. Still no email. At lunch my beef burger was undercooked and had to go back and I was left waiting while my friend ate his fish and chips and his mushy peas were stone cold. My replacement beefburger was still undercooked so I left it and just ate the bun and some chips. As a dessert I ordered cheese & biscuits which were brought to me without a side plate or knife! We found the whole experience bizarre! There is a complete lack of training and customer service at Barton Hall.

Came for dinner taking advantage of their steak night - fantastic food at a very good price. Caitlin looked after us at the table, efficiently and very pleasantly. After meal Emily at the bar gave us some cocktail suggestions and looked after us there - again very friendly and professional- I can’t rate these two ladies any higher. Unfortunately I can’t name the chefs, but they also deserve a mention. Keep it up Barton Hall, I’ll certainly be coming back.

Disappointing spa visit When booking, we were informed to reserve treatments closer to our date. While we requested said treatments, a week before, we received a short and blunt email response informing us that they no longer offered any treatment but Rushton Hall could accommodate our needs. That’s 17 miles away. No apology for the inconvenience and by this time Rushton Hall were fully booked. I have now requested to speak to management on two different occasions and I am still awaiting a phone call 3 days later. There’s no doubt the spa area is beautiful but it soon became clear why we were the only guests there. With 3 staff members and 11 guests there was no or very little service. They never even cleared away a glass. We eventually did that ourselves. Later we went to the main building for afternoon tea which was “nice”. Unfortunately if you are gluten intolerant you will receive sliced white bread sandwiches with 2 half slices of cucumber and brown bread sandwiches with 2 quarters of tomato. Not very appetising. I will not be going back. Neither will any of my guests.

I attended my own wedding here on 29th July. The venue was spectacular, the toastmaster was out of this world however the reception manager, bar staff were appalling and let this stunning venue down. I have far too many complaints to list in this review unless you are ready to read a novel. Firstly I attended at 12 o’clock with ceremony not due to start until 14:30 and was greeted with lots of unhappy family and friend who where eithe being moved out of rooms they had paid for or being moved to different rooms and being asked to pay for these, even tho they where already paid as part of the £13000 wedding package. I had to spend an hour at reception on my own wedding day when I was supposed to be greeting guests dealing with registrar and toastmaster who had to keep coming to try and fetch it me for my duties. This actually made people late for our ceremony. Later on the bar was almost closed because of groomsmen being rowdy which they were not. Guest attempted to go to the main bar after the wedding reception was closed to buy a coffee whilst other guests where being served they where told the wedding party could not be served, even thou they had paid from their own pocket to stay at the hotel and not part of the package. We were made to feel like we have your money now go to bed. Our wedding cards where left in the post box and supposed to be secure only to find out the next day that at least 15 couple of day guests cards where missing and we have no idea how many evening guests. We were told these would be brought to our room only for my wife to have to go and retrieve these from the post box still in the hall that morning. I sent an email to Barton hall to see if these had been misplace or handed in the bar only to still after 4 day to have had no response. This venue seem to have taken all our money and pushed us to the side. This is only a drop in the pond of complaints for our family and friends. I doubt very much I will get a response to this as my mother in law has put one up 4 days ago and still nothing. SHAME ON YOU BARTON HALL!!! Such a lovely venue with such unprofessional staff!!

Stayed overnight with my sister following a family funeral. There was an initial mix up as we were given a king sized suite with a bath in the room. When it was pointed out that we weren’t a couple, we were switched to lovely adjoining rooms and given free drinks as an apology. I had a bad back and to say the staff went the extra mile to help was an understatement. We arrived for breakfast towards the end of service and fresh eggs were provided without question and a with a smile. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

This is a beautiful venue, surroundings / gardens are lovely for photos. The Orangery is beautiful. Rooms are ok and most bathrooms have been upgraded. Most of the staff are courteous and helpful. The Toastmaster was exceptional ..... That's the positives. There was a serious lack of communication between reception and us as guests for my daughters wedding. I was booked in a family room for two nights as my two teenage grandchildren would be staying with me and my husband, the room had a double bed and two singles and perfectly adequate. I was contacted on the morning of the wedding and told I had gone over my check out time and had to leave! I had spoken with reception on several points before this so assumed they would know I was the mother of the bride and wouldn't be checking out! I then had a call to say it was ok I didn't have to move. Then I was told a bit later that I did have to move. Someone else was booked in my room for that evening but they apparently had paid for a superior room?!.... so if this room was not part of the booking package, why were we in there to start with?. There was confusion over names, but I still had to vacate and move to another room, which was smaller and only had one double and one single bed. As my husband had to go home, this wasn't such a problem, however the hotel were not aware of that. Our room was booked as part of the wedding accommodation, so considering the receptionist was totally unwilling to move another member of the bridal party (who hadn't even checked in yet) so that my sister could be closer to me made this ironic. My son had flown in from another country and was told he couldn't check in until 3:00 p.m. - the wedding started at 2:30 p.m.! We did manage to secure a room earlier for him after some conversations. Otherwise the alternative, we were told, was the baby changing room or the toilets!! To top it off as I was checking out I was asked to pay for the first nights accommodation. (obviously already paid for as part of the wedding package) My daughter had to sort this out, which is not something she should have had to do. To say that the reception staff were incompetent is a grave understatement. I was not the only guest who was disgruntled and disappointed but that is for them to review. If this hadn't been a wedding celebration, I may not have felt as strongly about things, but everything is expensive at this hotel and this should have reflected on the whole experience. My opinion is that the Wedding Co-ordinator should have checked and double checked and liaised with reception to ensure there was no confusion over accommodation or service. I have never written a review before so I hope that this is taken as constructive so that this won't happen to anyone else, as it did spoil part of the experience.

Visited with a few friends for a few drinks but was shocked to see how much the drinks have increased in a couple of months. Paid £6.75 a pint, which is an increase of £1.15 from our visit a couple of months ago. I get that places need to increase their prices, but this is just an outrageous price hike. Sadly I will no longer be visiting in the future.
