Service very slow & Starters very small. Roast Potatoes( Frozen) veg tasteless and undercooked. Cauliflower Cheese was cold pretty much like the rest of the meal. Main Meal very small portions hidden under a massive puff of air ( Yorkshire Pud) also cold. If you ate paying above average price for Sunday Luch then the food should reflect this.... unfortunately it did not. Sorry guys not very good at all ?

This pub is superb, lovely location, decor and vibe. We went for dinner here and the food was fantastic and the service brilliant. We had salmon and the bbq pulled pork/duck for starters. Then the lamb kebab and pie of the day (pork & chorizo) for mains. All was excellent and would definitely recommend. Looking forward to coming back in the summer as looks great to eat outside. Great pub, great food, check it out!

First tike visiting The Red Lion. Heard a lot of good things about it, and it definitely lived up to it! My family and I visited for Sunday lunch. We were booked in for 1pm, seated straight away and drinks ordered. The area was a large extension to the building but it was very well maintained and the place is very nice looking. My wife and I had the BBQ pulled pork for starters and it was delicious! Full of flavour. My wife couldn't finish hers so I mopped it up too! My daughter had bread and butter for starter and she said it was very tasty. For mains my wife turkey dinner with all the trimmings, I had steak & ale pie and my daughter had kids chicken goujons. The turkey dinner and steak and ale pie were so good, but the portion sizes are quite large, we struggled to finish ours. The chicken goujons were massive and come with chunky chips. The chicken is so soft and moist. My daughter said they were some of the best she's ever had, and she's quite the connoisseur when it comes to chicken goujons! For dessert my daughter had chocolate ice cream which comes with a little chocolate flake and a wafer. Very well presented and looked nice. After a bit of encouragement from the family I decided to go for the Belgian chocolate brownie for dessert, and I'm glad I did! Wow, it was delicious! It comes heated with ice cream, chocolate sauce, little smarties on top, a wafer, a flake. The service was brilliant, we had our table cleared promptly between courses, we weren't rushed between courses, the staff were very friendly. It's not the cheapest of places to eat, but the service and food definitely reflects its price tag. Thank you for a brilliant Sunday lunch, Red Lion. We certainly will be back.

Decent table in the corner of the conservatory. Table for 4 on a Saturday lunchtime in early December. Starters took an absolute age to arrive. No comment on that from the staff. I had the crab cakes. They were like 3 burnt tiny pellets sourced from a catering supplier ready made. Main course steak was cooked to medium rare as requested. However the sirloin was not remotely tender and totally lacked seasoning. The onion ring was decent but the chips were frozen so not sure how that fits with the description on the menu. I raised the issue of the burnt crab cakes with the chap that took the plates away and the only response was he'd tell the chef. Booked this on the back of the Google reviews and left somewhat disappointed and surprised. This place is not cheap and the crab cakes were a shocker for the price.

Had a really good Christmas meal here with six friends. An excellent kebab starter and brilliant cheesecake desert. Turkey main course also well presented and tasty.

Food was great but service was awful. As we waited for the table a waiter was carrying drinks on a drink tray and one drink had fallen. It was a bottle of beer which spilt on one of my friends. Wasn’t given any tissue to clean up, the spillage was left on the floor which is not safe… When the food was being take to the table some food was dropped on the floor…. At the end when we came to pay for the bill our £210 deposit was never taken off. Luckily we noticed this as we were about to leave that this was not taken off the bill. When asked waiters about it they seemed puzzled and confused. We got the refund in the end. If we didn’t notice this we would have overpaid by a lot of money…. There is no other way to get the refund back other than it being taken off the bill. Just some feedback, maybe there should be a system where the refund automatically goes back to the payer as soon as the table checks in? Not good service at all! If we did not notice about the deposit would have been out of pocket. Really disappointing that this happened….

Amazing food with a brilliant atmosphere. Myself and the family thoroughly enjoyed a get together for a Sunday roast. The food was genuinely show stopping. We all had a variety of different meals including the pork belly, roast beef and chicken. The chicken wings for our starter were beautiful and flavourful. Can’t wait to come again next week!

Some creative, non-traditional items on the menu, which is refreshing. Ambiance was also excellent. Kabobs were great.

Food was fantastic, expensive for a village pub, we went on a Sunday so 3 out of 4 of us had the roast dinner, the other had a burger, he said it tasted good but was only warm not hot, he asked the waitress to pop it in the microwave she did offer him another but he declined saying he just wanted it warmer, she was a little cool herself after that saying the chef did probe test it. We all had deserts which were also very good. We would go again but would have to save up first. The lamb and the pork are my recommendations. Try it you wont be sorry, very noisy in the conservatory but then it was very busy.

The best pub I have ever been to. The staff is absolutely amazing, the food is perfect, the wine was so lovely! This pub is so cosy and welcoming. I'll definitely come back here. I have to mention octopus and beef burger - what a heaven on earth! The octopus was so tender and tasty, beef burger was the best I ever had. Portions are massive! Definitely worth of visiting.

Firstly, I hate leaving bad reviews. I know how difficult it is to run a business & certainly things are made much tougher in these current times. I’d much rather recommend great places for others to visit and enjoy, but after todays experience at The Red Lion, this is one place that we won’t be going back to. The building itself is very nice, with a lovely cozy bar area and a great menu. Booked in for lunch as we’d been wanting to try the place for some time. The restaurant area is more of a large conservatory. Very busy and full of large groups. A bit too noisy to enjoy as a couples location as you can’t really hear each other speak above all the background volume. Certainly not somewhere to go for a romantic meal or with another couple as the conversation would be a struggle. The tables are also very close to each other and we were practically rubbing elbows with the table next to us. Without wanting to come across as a snob, 2 awful women who we’re constantly getting up to go outside to smoke, then coming back in and hacking up their phlegm with incessant coughing ?. On top of that vile habit, they were knocking back bottles of wine and bragging how much there were going to be over the drink drive limit when they left. Anyhow, despite that nearby behaviour making it rather unpleasant to eat and be around, it wouldn’t be fair to blame the Red Lion for the behaviour of their customers - I’m just trying to set the scene. We had a few starters which were tasty and a couple of drinks. For our main, we tried the roast beef sandwich and dipping gravy and the bacon, Brie and sausage sandwich (baps to be precise) Not cheap at £15 each, so expected them to reflect their price. The beef one was good, but the bacon, Brie and sausage one tasted like it was lacking something. It was….. the bacon. We noticed about halfway through and asked the waitress if it was meant to come with bacon. She said it was & went back to the kitchen to ask what happened. The chef apologised and said they had forgot to add it and if we wanted, they could cook some. I said not to bother as we were almost done, so it would be pointless. Then the bill came. £82.00 for a few starters, 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches (one of which was missing the key ingredient) I was half expecting the waitress to knock a few quid off to reflect their error, but no. When she came over to take payment, I politely asked if there was anything that could be done to adjust the bill to reflect the issue, but my question was met with a “huff” and a roll of the eyes as if it was going to be too much like hard work. Her response was laughable, “to be honest, the bacon only makes up a small part of the dish” and in her opinion, didn’t warrant any concession on their part. But if I wanted to escalate the matter, she would go and find a manager for me to speak to about it. I was so shocked by her negative attitude and poor response, I just wanted to get out of there, so paid the ridiculous amount of £82.00 for a sub standard lunch for 2 and left. Overall, not worth the money, not worth the 45 minute each way drive to get there and certainly not worth going if you want good service. My recommendation is that there are plenty of other pubs in the county that deserve your custom and money more than this one does.

What a find, a real hidden gem, probably the best restaurant we have visited in the last four to five years. We were treated to a Greedy Gordon’s group voucher by family and chose the Red Lion based on Trip advisor reviews, it was definitely a great choice. The food, service and value for money all 10/10, I had mussels for starters and they were excellent, at that point I knew we would be coming back to this great restaurant again and again. To the team both front of house and in the kitchen thank you for a great experience.
