We were told on arrival there was a 45 minute wait for food which turned into an hour not acceptable when you book a table. Waitress struggled to take an order. Steak and ale pie not much filling and portion appeared large but in reality a lot of poorly cooked pastry , my friends all had hard undercooked potatoes all meals would have gone back if we had time to wait for replacements. We will not be going back

Booked a table for 12.45 on the 14th December. My director was visiting from the USA, so thought we’d book up for a nice lunch. It wasn’t to be…Seated quickly, but took till 1.20pm for our drinks to arrive, starters followed about an hour later…. By this time people were beginning to leave, including a family with small children on the table next to us.We chased for our mains, but still another hour till that arrived - we requested dessert with mains, as needed to leave. We had already rebooked my directors train back to London once….The quality of food was not great, my burger came with a few chips and 3 onions rings - for £18 shocking value.The staff were trying hard, but were overwhelmed. The place is a shambles and we shall not eat there again.Added 17/1/24 I did mail the management team on the 2nd January, as requested in their reply, but have had no response…..

Fish and chips just warm not hot.Seafood much warmer than the risotto it was sitting on which was only just warm. Pity as it was a tasty dish.Meat pie very hot, mash potatoes and veg luke warm.Obviously some parts of the dishes are served up and left to keep 'just warm' while the remaining food is put on the plate at a later time.

Arrived at 1.15pm. Food didn't arrive by the time we decided to cut our losses at 1.50pm. Had tired hungry kids but kept being fobbed off saying its being plated up now. Honestly what terrible service. Have you heard of the phrase 'manage expectations'? We were not advised we would have to wait almost 60 minutes for our food. Go somewhere else for your Sunday meal and be served by people who care about customers having a good experience.

I arrived at the newly vamped Brittannia and pleasantly surprised with the upgrade. Loved the bar at the front, decor and general atmosphere on 14th Jan 3pm. The staff were friendly and attentive. However, I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered a pork Sunday lunch. It arrived in literally 5 minutes suggesting nothing was freshly cooked. The roast potatoes were warm and fatty and insipid looking. The pork was ok but again warm as were the vegetables and gravy. I felt the whole dinner had been hanging around. I only ate half and was very disappointed especially after my initial reaction and it wasn't worth the £16 I paid for it. Unfortunately I won't be visiting again for a meal.

Awful service from the get go no allowances made for a family. Took a long time for anyone to come to take our order we had written our order down and had to go and ask. Then when we did order after an hour there was still no food. We asked and were told it was being plated, half later there was still no food. 4 hungry kids and no food later we left. Needless to say won’t be coming back. The pub wasn’t even busy!Dietary restrictions: Didn’t take time to ask or explain about any allergiesKid-friendliness: Not kid friendly

The staff were amazing. The food was amazing.Such a lovely place and beautifully decorated. Definitely will visit againParking: Lots of easy parking...just remember to put your car registration onto the system just inside the pub

Went on to see what they had done in the refit. Taken the cosyness away that’s what they have done. Moved the bar to the front entrance of the pub so when u sit there a cold blast hits you every time.Team are the same usual ‘do you have to come in? Have you booked if not go away’.Food was ok. Not great. Not amazing. Just ok. I’ve had better else where. In fact my turkey was dry like it had been held under a heat lamp for a while.Such a shame as it was a lovely pub. Won’t be in a hurry to return.

Waited 25 mins for drink order to be taken then after another 20 minutes i had to ask if our orders were going to be taken. The place only had a few customers in so they were not rushed off their feet! When food came it was mediocre. No one asked if our food was ok and no one asked if we wanted more drinks. Extremely poor service and to top it all it was cold in the pub. Thank goodness we had thick jumpers on but a couple of people left their coats on. We will definitely not be returning.

What a shame the service and lack of staff let's this great venue down. The location has been recently updated so promised to be improved, unfortunately we waited over an hour after ordering for our food. Drinks arrived promptly but had such a long wait for our food. We all work locally so will be giving this a miss for quite a while.


I recently had a lovely 3 course meal here just after it reopened. The food was beautiful and very nicely presented. The service was great and the new layout and design of the place is great. Would recommend ?

Literally bang average.Started off excited to see what the refurbishment looked like, and not having been a while to see positive changes.Atmosphere was very dull, didn't see a smile on any staff member.Food they had seemed to run out of a lot of basic items. The main course was okay. I could have gotten it anywhere else though, desert was aweful, which is a real shame as I used to love the salted cameral Sunday. Now, it is just basically liquid ice cream with a frozen brownie and an awful amount of syrup.None of the larger came with a head, let alone a decent head on them, and it took 15 minutes for a glass of water.No check back to ask how the food was.I would expect these problems if they were busy, but honestly, they really weren't.It took another 15 minutes for nobody to come and take payment, we had to go to the bar and again wasn't even asked if we enjoyed ourselves.The table took forever to be cleared.Honestly, I can't see myself returning.Cost wise, I would have been happy to pay £40.00 but ended up paying £66.00, overpriced for the quality and service.I noticed as well. No customer looked happy leaving after eating there. Also, everybody in the area we were sitting in was looking for staff, with no plates or glasses being clear for a good period of time.

Although we to order in advance it took an hour and a half to get the main course. Some of our group waited half an hour for the starter. My bread was half frozen and although the sauce was tasty the prawns were tasteless. When the main eventually arrived it was not very hot.My fish was tasteless the sprouts were so hard and the carrots and parsnips were cold. Some people had the the turkey and could not cut into the roast potatoes as they were so hard and again the vegetables were cold. They forgot to put carrots on the plate. I could understand the long wait if it was busy though we had preordered mbut the pub was almost empty which was understandable judging by both the food and service. I will not be coming again

We just had drinks this time but it was lovely and relaxing and right by the canal.When we went they were refurbishing so it wasn't at it's best.Did smell was lovely
