We booked the Bull's function room for our daughter's 2nd birthday and it was fantastic. We ordered a buffet for 20 people and everyone commented on how good the food was. They even made sure the bouncy castle was up for the children. We were made to feel very welcome and our daughter had a great party. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent Christmas lunch. The roasts were amazing. 'Just like a Christmas meal at home'. Very friendly and personal service. I received lots of thanks from our large group for making the booking. I'm sure many will make a repeat visit as they were so impressed.

Myself and nine friends attended a pre booked Christmas lunch at the Bull in Towcester. The food and the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend the Bull as a place to eat.

This is relatively local to us, so over the last 35 years or so, have seen The Bull transform from a simple wet-led drinking place through various iterations of restaurant offering. This review is, in a way, reflective of two visits - neither good. We originally visited a couple of weeks after the current change of owner and refurbishment and were shocked at the slow service and poor food but put this down to the newness of the team etc at the time. Thinking the time had come to give them another try, we booked a table for five - surely it must be better by now... Despite there being various tables in the main restaurant, we were somewhat bizarrely taken to the function room area, and shown to a table for eight, and then forgotten - no menus, no wine lists... nothing! When we did get menus, there was an extensive list of items that weren't available (at 19:15 on a Saturday) so we made our choices from the remaining limited options. First challenge - starter choices for three were suddenly also unavailable, so we made alternative choices - only one portion of the alternative, the others had less luck. Drinks order - hardly difficult at a bottle of wine, a jug of water, a coke and a glass of wine... well, it would have been easy had they remembered to bring it to the table... Main courses eventually appeared at 21:10 with an apology that they only had one chef as the other had 'walked out' yesterday. The place wasn't busy (witness the spare tables that we could have had in the (warm) restaurant) so not too sure what the issue had been, other than complete lack of effective management. I think it will take another change of owner before we try to spend more money in The Bull...

Food was great, one had sea bass and one the panko chicken burger. Service was new to the job but friendly. Fresh Doombar on. All good!

I went to The Bull Inn for lunch with two colleagues. We each had a different meal and all agreed that the food was superb. There was so much we couldn't quite eat it all. The restaurant was quiet and comfortable and the price more than reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely delicious food, the best pub food I have eaten for a long time. The portions were generous and the service was attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back, the Christmas menu looks amazingly good value.

As a family of 8 we booked to go to the bull on Sunday for a roast on arriving we ordered drinks from the bar and were taken to our table from the point everything went downhill. We ordered three starters and asked for two kids meals to come out at the same time, after 45 minutes we had to chase our starters and then only one of the kids meals came out so had to chase again for the second. When the second kids meal came out it was piping hot and the waitress just put it straight in front of a 2year old that even myself at 34 couldn’t of eaten it that hot. It took the waitress ages to collect the plates for the starters and when she did no mains turned up and by this point we had been there for two hours. We questioned where our main was and they said it would be a couple of more minutes, one main then arrived which was the burger which looked and tasted like it had been under the hot plate for sometime. The rest of us ordered a roast and it still hadn’t appeared so we chased a different waiter who said it was on its way, 20 minutes later our original waitress appears and asked if we wanted desert by this point we hadn’t even had our mains. We explained we hadn’t had our mains and she chased them up, they finally came out and they were stone cold non edible and one of our party went to explain to her the waitress rolled her eyes as if this was our issue. The best bit was there was only one other table in the whole of the pub with four people on so it wasn’t like they were over run with customers. The manager did sort it out and take the meals off the bill however was not the experience we were looking for and will not be going back.

We stopped off late Sunday afternoon in the hope of a delicious roast after a somewhat stressful day at hospital. We were very lucky that The Bull was able to accommodate us without a booking, at a quieter period of the day and still cooking thankfully. We both very much enjoyed our food. I had Roast Lamb with all the trimmings, everything was delicious, an excellent selection of vegetables including tasty cauliflower cheese, cabbage and lardons with well seasoned greens and carrots. Extremely tasty gravy with extra for those of us who like more than a dribble. My partner enjoyed a tasty and tender steak with lovely chips, mushroom and tomato. He helped with my vegetables too as there was plenty. Staff were welcoming and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Will definitely be back.

We went to the Bull today (19/11) for a Sunday roast. Have to say that it was the best roast dinner we have had for a long long time. Spoke to the new team Des the chef and Nicki manager. They have only been there four weeks but what a difference. Highly recommended.

What a fabulous pub with incredible food. Visited last night with a friend and was blown away by the quality of the food. I had scallops to start followed by mushroom and truffle oil risotto and both were truly delightful. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

Arrived at this venue having travelled over 370 miles and was looking forward to nice meal with the family (6). Both kids could not eat chicken goujons and same for 1 adult whose chicken was dry. Another 2 adults had duo beef which was as tough as an old pair of boots - totally inedible. 1 adult had the bull burger which was okay. Complained to the sever at the end of the meal who apologised and said she would ask the cook to remake the food, but by that time we were just glad to head away to our accommodation. Would not recommend based on our terrible experience.

First visit since under new ownership. Had an amazing Sunday roast dinner, the food had so much flavour and was the perfect portion size. Staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely return!
