Upon arrival we were both impressed with this stunning hotel and friendly receptionist. Unfortunately a few details left us disappointed with our stay. The service in the bar was so slow and quite a long wait for a drink. There appeared to be only one barman on which was strange for a busy bank holiday weekend. Sunday lunch menu was served at 7pm and quite limited. Mussels lacked flavour and both dinners were missing roast potatoes which were on the menu. When I mentioned this to the young waiter he checked with the kitchen staff, came back to apologise and said we should have asked for them. Again service was quite slow. Breakfast this morning was lovely, the waitress apologised for the fire alarm going off this morning which had us all out of our beds well before 8am. There was no mention of this at check out and we both felt this should have been addressed here and not the responsibilty of the restaurant staff to apologise for.

Stayed for 1 night with my wife and had a great time, Food was great and staff were excellent with a special mention for the barman, I think his name was Caolin? Great setting with everything you need for a much needed night away! Highly recommend....

Stayed for one night at this brilliant hotel and wished that it could have been longer. The photos do not do it justice as it has been refurbished to a really high standard the rooms are five star hotel standard. They are not huge but the space is used so well that you do not notice and the bathrooms are beautifully designed. We had an evening meal which was really good and excellent value with a good choice of wine. The service was also so friendly and efficient. The highlight however was the breakfast which was simply one of the best that I have had anywhere and breakfast is possibly my favourite meal of the day. It was simply superb fresh local produce cooked perfectly. We shall be back next time we are in Northern Ireland.

Beautiful hotel. Very clean and well kept. Staff are lovely. Breakfast was very tasty. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was first class. Would highly recommend. Will definitely come back. Great location too. Right beside Castlewellan Forest Park. We had a lovely walk around the lake and saw the castle. Beautiful location.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable lunch in Hillyard House. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the menu represented good value and variety of choices. We were both impressed by the venue and hope to return soon.

What a beautiful hotel. Each member of staff were friendly and engaging. Our dinner and breakfast were beautiful, with ample portions. Our room was clean and spacious and equipment with everything you would require. A lovely hidden gem, right at the gates of Castlewellan Forest.

My wife and I called for lunch. Money has been invested in recent years and has been well spent creating a homely, welcoming and sophisticated restaurant/bar/hotel. Charming staff especially the young man on his first day. Pretty standard menu but portion size was good; chicken wings were generous with just the right kick. Look forward to my next visit; I might be too local to justify an overnights but it’s tempting.

Found the hotel by chance and so glad I did. We stayed for just one night and from check-in to check-out everything was perfect. Every member of staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful and made us feel so welcome. Our room which had a lovely view of the Mourne mountains was spotlessly clean with a large comfortable bed and we both slept well. We ate in the restaurant and both meals were delicious. Breakfast is included in the price and again was perfect. Have already recommended the Hilliard to so many people and we we will definitely return.

Called into Hillyard Hoise Hotel/Restauranto) pn the off chance of dinner on a Sunday evening, we were accommodated without any problem by very friendly staff. .Dinner was an absolute pleasure, , Chicken Parfait starter, melt in the mouth, Chicken Supreme main , to die for, a great collaboration of flavours and finally deconstructed Eaton Mess, WOW , compliments to the chef. Beautiful surroundings, we'll be back soon

This hotel is located on the entrance road into Castlewellan Forest Park. The building is finished to a high standard with a modern feel. The staff were professional and the food at breakfast was both excellent and varied. This was our first visit to this hotel and we can highly recommend it for a short break as it was competitively priced

We stayed in this lovely hotel for two nights the 8th & 9th Aug. From the welcome we received on our arrival and all the very friendly staff we encountered during our stay we have the highest of praise and we recommend having a break here. The food was excellent. The area has so much to offer especially the lovely Castlewellan Forest Park right beside the hotel.

A pure privilege, from the warm fun greeting we received on arrival to the effortless top class service during our stay. The attention to detail and cleverness of rooms style is matched by the excellence you receive on your dinner plate. If only other Hotels would try to copy Hillyard House the hospitality industry would be in safe hands Planning our next trip already. Finally i have to mention the breakfast, it's outstanding and surpasses the ordinary. This has to be your base for exploring The Antrim Coast

Beautiful rooms and hotel. Beds were so comfy! We stayed overnight, unfortunately for a funeral and the staff were so lovely. After we explained when booking, they made sure we were able to get in early to the room to change for the funeral and as we had to leave early at 5am for our flight home the next day, they made sure the night porter gave us coffee, apple juice and scones away with us as we couldn't make breakfast. Thank you to the staff for being so accomodating to us when we were going through such a hard time. A real personal experience, i couldnt recommend more.
