After finishing our starters to the main meal, the serving staff just liberally tossed the main meals cutlery down from a height onto the table. With it clattering everywhere.As we began our meal we where then subjected to an artic blast as the band began to set up leaving the exit door open.I did communicate the issue but received a gruff remark let's say.

Fabulous restaurant great for the Sunday lunch, only £21 for three courses which is great, salt and chilli chicken and the prawn cocktail starters are lovely. The beef dinner is different from the last time we were here but still great and the deserts were delish. Great sized portions and lovely

In this restaurant at least once every 2 weeks, one of our favourite restaurants, extremely disappointed after tonight, arrived to be told we couldn’t sit at our table as other people where sitting there waiting on their table, ordered a well done steak, staff called to the table and asked how it was but I didn’t get a chance to answer and I was on my first bite, half way through and got to the centre and realised it was rare in the middle, at this stage I left the remainder of the steak and ate everything else, spoke with the manager downstairs and she was of no help and as far as she’s concerned it was ok when she asked how the food was, again I was on my first bite and didn’t get to answer, we usually have the short haired lady upstairs who is fantastic, it’s a shame we had to deal with the manager downstairs tonight, will not be back either will the rest of the family,

Have been to the taphouse quite a number of times over recent years. This is now the second time in a row we’ve had awful service. Early Saturday evening restaurant exceptionally quiet. 20 mins for order to be taken and a further 45 mins for food to be served. Tobacco onions and mash not up to standard. Won’t be back.

Table booked for 8pm when we arrived table wasn't ready. After waiting 20 mins for table had to wait a further 20 mins for order to be taken. When food arrived at 9.15( 1hr 10 min wait) it was just left on the table, no offer of vinegar or butter for potatoes. Service was awful no one came near us to ask if everything was OK,or if we needed anything. Food was just mediocre at best.Service could be a lot better. First and last time at Taphouse after being recommended to go. There are better eateries out there.

Myself and the hubby had Christmas lunch here a few weeks ago and I have to say the food was absolutely amazing. I had ate here a few years ago and it was ok...not bad...but nothing special, however meal we received a few weeks ago we will definitely be back and have told everyone we know! The only thing lacking would be the service, the lady (who i assume was the manager) was brilliant, however before she made an appearance, we waited 15 minutes before anyone came near us for a drink, and i had to ask the waitress to take our order, and i could see through it if the staff were busy however they were standing chatting at the bar, but apart from that the food was excellent, as was the decor and atmosphere, would definitely recommend.

Based on the food alone I’d give the place a second chance. Based on the service on a fairly quiet Tuesday night, it’ll be a while before I do.
