Amazing food! Coffee was beautiful and the food was amazing and healthy. Perfect for lunch. My only suggestion would be healthier options for kids. My kid loved the banana bread though. Amazing local produce inside too, so took some home.

First time here ,me and my husband called in for a cuppa and pastry after a walk up the town,I had a lovely cup of tea with a lemon cookie sooo good, but my husband had a flat white coffee which he has not stopped raving about from the first sip he took,he was extremely happy with it I just wish I had of went back in and got him one for the road back home, we will be back , added bonus they are dog friendly I love that.Parking: Plenty of on street parking out front and a massive car park just down street.

Very pleasant experience. Great White star coffee, proper sizes, nice latte art and lovely pastries. Service pleasant and efficient. What's not to like? (Also nice treat to find they sell my favourite bottled Korean bbq sauce!)

Came down to Newcastle on a glorious winter morning to have a cup of coffee, and been rudely turned away at the unexpectedly closed Cafe Mauds (I quote the abrupt member of staff- “We’re closed. Tomorrow”).Hoping to salvage the morning trip I spotted smiling customers sitting inside this little place, Birch. I came in and was greeted by really pleasant staff, who invited me to take a seat and brought me a delicious cup of coffee. The atmosphere was so pleasant that I ended up having a second cup! I watched regular customers go back and forth and noticed how the staff welcomed everybody that came through the door. This cosy little place is a gem - I’ll be back. An extra thank you to the staff for making my morning!5/5

This place is an absolute gem - the food, coffee and treats are all out of this world. We were in Newcastle for two nights and ended up coming here three days in a row it was that good. They've got great gluten free options and decaff coffee also. The service was top notch.

Described as a vegetarian and vegan cafe but the only item on the menu for lunch that was vegan was soup.I wouldn't mind but I generally hate soup. It bores me to tears. I would never usually choose it. If I'm paying for a lunch out and I knew they only had soup, I would NOT visit.I was more shocked that an actual veggie / vegan cafe has less options for vegans than many other 'normal' restaurants and cafes I've been to.Anyway, bit of a disappointment for me, truth be told, but the soup WAS nice, the sourdough was very tasty, and they did have some vegan sweet treats we took away with us that were very yummy. Personally though, as a vegan, this is why I prefer Kaffe-o down the road for my lunch, as I know I can always get a vegan brod or a trio of salad, or stew, for my lunch. Sadly it is closed during the week.
