Had a late lunch here today with my wife & son. Grand National Day so expected it to be busy but easy to get a table. Food was amazing. Sirloin steak cooked perfectly said my son, wife had sweet chilli chicken with garlic chips also very good, and I had a very tasty steak sandwich which was superb..tv on to watch the big race. Great choice of drinks including Guinness Zero! Free wifi available. Service was outstanding. No complaints!

This is such a lovely restaurant. Have been to the Belfast one loads of times, but never this one. With the Buck's Head as well, Dundrum residents are spoilt for choice in terms of good restaurants! Love the casual interior and the nice buzz about the place on a Sunday lunchtime. Great selection of seafood , including fish like hake, sole and sea bass, as well as shellfish like crab, prawns, langoustine and oysters. Good wine list and decent beers and cocktails too. The kids' menu is also really good, with seafood pasta and squid on there among the usual suspects. Good staff and quick service. Definitely recommend.

2nd time getting fish and chips from McCann's this evening.
It was super tasty the 1st time but somehow it was even better today!
Superb crispy chunky chips and really thick fish, tender flesh with a thin and crispy batter.
Honestly we have never had better.

ok, the service was slow, no doubt. but the food was worth it. the wait staff isn't the best but the chef is on point. my mom and i split the chicken supreme and it was superb! we had this dish at a few different places throughout Ireland and this was far and away the very best. big portions, terrific food. it's not a big place, but just big enough so that it isn't cramped. definitely recommend.

Chico is an unreal fella making unreal food at unreal prices. Good selection of a typical kebab shop menu and the food is tasty and made quick. It is cash only but if out late in Newcastle pop in a give it try if you're looking some good grub.

I loved this cosy cafe. I had their Cruffin (was yum), English Breakfast tea and Mocha (was good).
The staff were very friendly.
Though it had a small menu, they didn’t had everything shown in google but was close to Newcastle bus station and the beach.

Everything tasted fresh and was prepared competently. The atmosphere is pleasant enough for a casual meal. It's a safe choice if you're in the area and need somewhere reliable. I'd come back if I was nearby, but wouldn't go out of my way.

Called in for the first time today while walking dogs with my sister.
Such a pretty and spotlessly clean cafe with friendly staff and lovely views of the sea.
We had an Americano, flat white and two biscoff & white chocolate balls.
Nicest flat white I’ve had in a long time and the sweet treats were delicious.

If I lived here I’d be in every other day!

Omg what a wee GEM ? . This place was recommended by someone who we met in the Slieve Donard hotel ?. We rang and booked a table and so glad we did . The service and food and also value for money was outstanding. I myself a vegan was so well catered for . To top it off I was presented with their local apple juice on the house !!! . This is a fabulous family run restaurant, no frills !! But serving great food and drinks at an affordable price.. definitely worth a visit. Blown away by this wee gem of a place ✨️

Amazing cafe, great atmosphere, perfect food for before or after a long hike and great drinks. Quite possibly the best Irish breakfast I've ever had. Staff were so incredibly kind and did me the amazing favor of holding onto my suitcase for me while I hiked when I realized I couldn't keep it in my accommodation because of the checkout time. Incredible kindness above and beyond what anyone could expect and the food made the experience all the more brilliant. A must for anyone staying in Newcastle.

Was down visiting my sister in Newcastle and she took us to Quinns for dinner. I had seafood chowder for starters and I must say it was the best I ever tasted. For mains we had Turkey and ham dinners and all 3 plates were cleaned. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommended and the staff were brilliant always coming and asking if everything was OK. We'll be back. 10/10

Base Coffee Shop

I didn't eat at this little coffee stop and, yes , there was a queue, but the coffee is excellent and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. It is a little open to the elements but hop up well on cooler days and enjoy your drink with one of the most beautiful views in the country. Not my first stop here, and certainly won't be my last.

Wow, best meal we’ve had out in a while. And best Sunday roast I’ve ever had! The roast veg were so well done, great gravy and the beef was melt in your mouth. The steak sandwich was great too, flavourful. Delicious Guinness, £5 which you don’t see too often these days. Very friendly servers as well, just a great spot all around. Nice fire too

Great little Cafe ?
Was passing by when we got caught in a very heavy rain storm, was able to take the family inside to get the kids dried off and fed while having a couple of cups of coffee. Cafe was very welcoming and nice and warm. Didn't feel rushed at all by staff.
Nice coffee and my sons pancakes looked great ?

The caramel squares and rocky road tray bakes were outstanding! Highly recommended.

Absolutely beautiful food, we paid £11.80 for an 8oz burger with bacon, cheese coleslaw and BBQ sauce (another local business was going to charge £9.60 for the burger alone!) and a large gravy chip, which fed two people! Plenty of gravy as requested! Food was piping hot and very tasty! The man also gave us a free portion of onion rings as they where going to the bin!

Visited Lick a few times while staying in Newcastle from the 9th to the 15th August 2025.
This place is just my go to, I want one in my location!. First Day tried the crumble pot with a scoop of Ice Cream, these things are just delicious, fresh apples, crumble , warm custard, Wow, loved it.
2nd time , I noticed they do the crumble pot with meringue on top, even nicer. I had the Apple an Blackberry this time and the meringue swirled on top and heated with a blow torch to crisp it up. These are delightful, never seen them anywhere before but great idea and a lovely desert. They are also have a nice range of flavors of ice cream. I had the Jammy Dodger, which had a lovely taste. My friends had other various flavors and they all said they where very nice indeed.
Staff very pleasant and friendly. What more could you ask for.

Mealcastle restaurant is very great because they value their customers needs and ensure quality in their food. I would highly recommend this place for anyone both home and abroad to come and have a great experience from different varieties of African dishes such as jollof rice, poundo yam, Egusi soup, melon soup, Ogbono soup, starch and banga soup and many more. The service is great because their staffs are friendly and welcoming to customers, and to top it up, the restaurant has an amazing atmosphere with great music and amazing light during evening times.
They have an amazing jollof rice and I ate a plate with fried beef today and It was lovely.

Disappointed to read some of the reviews for the Broadway.
Myself, my wife and our two girls ate there yesterday.
Nothing fancy. No Michelin stars. Just very good suitable menu for a seaside diner.
Staff were all young ,nice and pleasant.
Food was nice. Priced appropriately.
But as a dining experience it has something that you can't reproduce easily.
It's a fifty year old business that has authentic history and nostalgia.
We ate there some years ago and it was nice to be there again.
And I hope to be there again some time soon.
I know how much hard work goes into running a food business. Most people haven't a clue how much effort goes into their plate.
Anyway, I love the place and I'm thankful to the owners and staff.

Were there for a family get-together on Saturday night and it was fantastic. The interior of the bar/restaurant was sumptuous, the food was excellent (best soup I’ve ever had) and the craic was top notch. Brilliant service from Frances and her amazing team and a massive thank you to all who made it a night to remember.
