I ordered small portion of curry chips....it was very small....The chips were disgusting....they were definitely not fresh cut chips more like Frozen ..and reheated.... absolutely horrible I definitely won't be buying any more...total waste of money ..went straight into the bin...

Slightly disappointed with this one, ordered fish supper to have by the sea, was looking forward to the traditional seaside treat. The batter on the fish was thick and stodgy and chips were soggy and soaked in a very watered down vinegar. Only thing I can say is that the staff were very busy and may have overlooked cooking times and batter thickness. would definitely give this place another go at a less busy time of day.

As always, delicious fish supper.Light, crispy batter with tasty, chunky cod.Chips perfect- soft inside and crspy outside.Tried the goujons which were southern fried and excellent. Spied others ordering homemade onion rings, so give them a go too-delicious.The fact there was a queue right onto the street tells you something must be good. Well worth the wait.Best chippy I've been to in a long time!

Quite possibly the best fish & chips I've ever had. I wish I'd taken a photo, but once I started eating I wasn't stopping. The batter was paper thin and crispy, no white fluffy stodge, just crisp batter coating beautifully fried fish. Same for the chips too, clean, fresh and so very tasty. No kidding, John Mac's is a must stop shop if you're in Newcastle.
