My wife and I had one night’s stay at Dufferin Coaching Inn – Saturday 12th August 2023 – and we were in room D. We booked for accommodation and breakfast on the morning of Sunday 13 August 2023. This coaching Inn is full of history and also full of character. It was easy to book and communication with Janine at the Inn regarding this booking was a stress-free, easy experience. Janine was from the very first a cheery welcome at the front door - everything any traveller wants whether looking to check on after a long or short journey: A GENUINE WELCOME! A bright, cheerful, fully focused host, who was genuinely delighted that we had chosen her Inn to rest, explore, eat and ensure we were fully replenished to continue our journey (in our case we were heading home). Everywhere I looked, every nook and cranny (that is every part of the place) was spotlessly clean and serviceable; evidence abounded of an active hand, an active focus, active care, active investment, ACTIVE host who ensured mirrors gleamed, that bathroom shower gel, soap, towels, flannels (face washers) were present, correct; an ACTIVE host in being there when you need them and discreetly vanished as and when appropriate. Our bed, pillows, duvet all bright, cheerful with the that lovely smell of having been freshly laundered, freshy pressed. Carpets in our room were deep piled and freshly hoovered. When closing the bedroom window shutters: perfect darkness and on our night, we were there, perfect silence; not a sound. Glorious rest. Here’s a puzzle for you re the windows in room D (if you stay there): Why are there slots like letter boxes either side of each window? Clue the windows are called ‘Sash’ windows; you go solve the riddle but don’t ‘weight’ around. (I was a third generation of a builder’s family so gleaned all manner of insights re long past construction methods). Breakfast was perfect plenty of choice and I had the ‘Ulster Fry’ (my wife had salmon and poached eggs and was most impressed and indeed recommends). The Ulster Fry which – I can promise you from experience – varies greatly in fat and greasy content elsewhere; this one was perfect in presentation not a spot of grease or fat visible: truly scrumptious; kept me going all day! So, by now, this sparkling review, should have you heading to the Dufferin Coaching Inn website as you plan your Northern Ireland / all Ireland trip. If it doesn’t….well I cannot be any clearer: this is a welcoming, homely, actively well managed inn giving good value, placed in a delightful, enchanting part of Northern Ireland; a place to rest, relax, recuperate, challenge your knowledge of historic buildings: in short – Delightful host, enchanting property, affordable….I recommend. Thank you, Janine, and all your staff for making our one night stay so enjoyable and so easy to recommend!

This was our second visit to Dufferin Coaching Inn and just as wonderful as our last. The owner, Janine was as attentive as ever to the finest of details both in decor and the delicious breakfast. We had a lovely seated area separate to our bedroom where we relaxed in the evenings. The Dufferin Arms pub next door served up a fantastic evening meal..We will be back again at The Dufferins for the wonderful hospitality and delicious food.. Thank you Janine..

Wonderful experience. Janine was exceptional with everything, from great breakfasts to providing local information on what to do. The inn was beautiful throughout, the bedroom spotlessly clean and fresh as well as being very comfortable. I am going to recommend the inn to all my friends, and we intend to go back. What a great find. The local area was fabulous as well. Stephen

Janine is a fantastic host who provides a warm welcome and fantastic breakfast!!! She has a wealth of local knowledge and tips for places to visit. Our room was lovely with its own tea/coffee making facilities, en suite bathroom and extremely comfortable four-poster bed. Be sure to visit the Dufferin Arms for a drink or 2, live music and craic with the friendly locals. Janine also recommended the Smuggler's Table for dinner. We were so glad she did!!! The home-cooked breakfast was excellent and the attention to detail in the presentation was an incredible surprise. We almost felt guilty for eating it!!! This a true hidden gem that is worth discovering

Me and my boyfriend only stayed here for one night but very welcoming host and lovely room, really appreciated the upgrade to the honeymoon suite and the breakfast prepared for the early morning start as we had to catch the first flight the next day. Would definitely go back for a longer stay. Thank you for everything.

Janine, the host, could not do too much for us to make our stay special. From the delicious freshly cooked breakfasts to booking dinner for us. Our room was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. We really recommend this hotel and we'll definitely return if we ever visit the area again.

A lovely inn in a historic building. The room was great, large with high ceilings and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was the best we had during 15 days in Ireland. Best of all, the hostess, Janine. She was friendly, helpful and arranged for a reservation at the restaurant next door which was excellent. She also contacted a local historian who opened up the Hans Sloane House just down the street where we got a complete overview of the history of the area and the life of Sir Hans Sloane. The town is a hidden jewel. We would love to have spent more time here.

What a lovely place to stay! The "Coaching Inn" is actually a re-purposed bank converted into a charming and characterful house. Our room was big and airy. The bed was very very comfortable. There are also lounge areas for guests to use. The best thing about this place is the lady who runs it, Janine. She is a treasure. Nothing is too much trouble for her. She is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the area - so helpful when you are looking for somewhere to eat, something to do or somewhere to visit. And a lot of fun. TBH it is worth visiting Northern Ireland just to meet her. :) As a base for exploring this part of Ireland - Mourne, the Ards Peninsula and so on, Killyleagh is ideally placed. We will be back.

Fantastic hospitality from beginning to end. Janine was the perfect host, taking care of every small detail - from storing our bikes to advice regarding the local area. The room was great - two rooms in fact so the kiddo had his own space but was still with us. Breakfast was fabulous. Would highly recommend for a really comfortable stay with the personal touch that makes it v special. Thank you Janine - we will be back!

We had a 50th birthday party in the coaching inn hall and all we can say is that we were absolutely blown away by the service we received. Janine goes above and beyond to provide for all your needs and nothing is ever too much trouble! We felt extremely welcomed and comfortable and would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for somewhere to throw a fab party. The venue is extremely friendly and in a great location. Couldn’t recommend enough!
