Called recently for lunch for our 1st visit. Great staff and great surroundings. Plenty of options in the menu....we opted for starter and main course. Both starters excellent....my chicken wings were enormous with a tasty honey drizzle. My wife had squid which she said was really tasty. Rump steak and cod for out mains....both were excellent. Steak on flatbread with chimichuri side was very good. Fish with chips and mushy peas look good too. Good wine selection and a prompt service made our lunch more enjoyable. Only down side were the toilets that had to be shared and could have done with a bit of a spruce up. Will be back

Great addition (leading the way) to the food option on the North coast. Great menu, fabulous wine selection and cocktails ?. Highly recommend you make a reservation.

Decided to give this venue a try as it had been opened approximately 2 years now. Booked a table for 2, arrived and shown to our table. Small, clean, smart place and relatively busy, both inside and outside. Food and drinks ordered, decent choice from both. Food arrived after 25 minutes, we only ordered mains, smash burger and fillet. The smash burger wasn’t exactly ‘smashed’ and not thoroughly cooked through. My fillet was cooked ok, but the strangest looking fillet I’ve ever had. Obviously one of the cheaper cuts, I asked for medium, it was served ‘well’. Also the garlic & honey skins arrived not exactly warm. Also the coffee I finished with was very bitter and that was with sugar. Overall, a nice place which will warrant another trip sometime as the staff/owners deserve another visit

First time visiting Shanty but will definitely not be our last. Booked online and on arrival we were shown to our table where we were looked after by Charlie. We opted for a sharing starter of breads and oils which was very satisfying. For our mains I picked the Chimichurri Chicken and my wife went for the steak with flatbread, both really well cooked meals, piping hot and full of flavour. We had a bit of a wait for the mains to arrive but when we mentioned this on leaving we were dealt with in a most courteous and professional manner by the Manageress. We would have been returning at some stage but her manner and attitude has ensured we will be returning very soon. Thanks to all the staff for a great lunch.

We dined here early evening and I have to say the staff were so attentive and friendly. Our starters were lovely, and the main courses were superb. The cod and Coley were cooked perfectly and we all really enjoyed our dishes. When we next come over, we will definitely visit again. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Called into The Shanty as a last minute change of venue and it didn’t disappoint. We ordered two smash burgers and a chip. Full of flavour and freshly cooked. Staff were really pleasant and friendly. On the list for another visit.

Went here for lunch and we were blown away with the quality and taste of each of the mains we had. Risotto, chicken and Rib eye steak all excellent. One of the best restaurants we have eaten in at the North Coast

A fantastic meal. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the wine we were recommended to accompany the meal was first class. A very enjoyable evening, looking forward to a return visit in the very near future.

Always have a good night here. Not as local as we recently were so we were really looking forward to being back and Shanty did not disappoint. Walking towards it tonight, seashore was shrouded in mist and Shanty was like a beacon, with the promise of great food and wine. The wines on offer this month are both delicious and the food as great as ever.

Lovely food, service alittle bit on the slow side but the place was fully booked so this was understandable. Music upstairs started about 8.30pm with a very loud drum bumping through the celling, was off putting to say the least when trying to talk to each other with this going on in the background, the music would be better after diners have finished eating or at least keep the drums until after this. One toilet for the whole restaurant is also very impractical, the business have not taken diners with a disability in to consideration. We had 1 member of our party with a hidden disability who requires the bathroom at short notice and felt uneasy all evening due to this reason, so this would be a factor to reconsider also. However, that said, we would return to dine again.

Great location in the old lifeboat station. Contemporary decor and spacious. Varied menu. A special occasion restaurant price wise. The drinks, especially wine, are pricey, however the food we had was very good. Superb steak. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was great. The waiting on staff judged everything just right, especially Joss - thank you ?

On blustery October Friday evening it was beautiful sitting upstairs looking out at the sea. My food was gorgeous with perfectly cooked, translucent cod. My sister got the chicken which although tasty was over cooked. The potato skins where packed full of flavour. It is great to see something different on the wine list as well. The service is the usual issues you will get in a seaside town at this time of the year, with clearly new students in place. They were friendly enough but just have a bit of patience. Will definitely be back.

Attended on 10 October 2023. Food was either undercooked or burnt. Grim. Saw another person also sent their food back, not surprised. Portions also small. Had been previously in late Summer & food was great. Shame.

Shanty is the old lifeboat station in Portrush Northern Ireland, is is located in the beautiful Ramore Head overlooking the skerry islands. The restaurant food is as good as the location very tasty well presented and good portions. The food menu has a good mix of meat fish and vegetarian options and prices were reasonable. I have one gripe who’s is the wine price, starting at £25 is in my world a bit much. I really think that restaurants should have a good house wine at less than say a ribeye steak main course. Lovely staff and great chat love the atmosphere, thank you Shanty, Bach soon.
