My daughter has used Gormans for a while now and she recommended we try it. I thoroughly enjoyed Scampi and I pinched bits of my husbands cod as it looked lovely white fish with batter crisp and light, chips although I rarely eat potatoes in any form I pinch a few chips off my hubby too they are not greasy and really tasty. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to try them I'm sure you will enjoy.

Don't normally get food from here. Thought I would give it ago.The shop front is clean and pleasant. Male on the front counter is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. I ordered the xl fish and chips. The chips was fluffy and had a nice taste to them. The fish was fresh ordered. Nice batter golden colour with a crunch. The fish was white and cooked very well. It had a nice taste. I would recommend anyone to try the venue out. See and taste for yourself.My only complaint was it was bad for my diet. So don't tell my Doctor

I’ve been a customer for 5 years now. I visit the shop, I order deliveries and even (during the pandemic) used their own website to pre-order my grandmothers haddock and chips with mushy peas every Friday. The food has always been brilliant and let me explain what I mean by brilliant. The chips are “proper” (as we in Ashington say) chippy chips, the fish is that precision mix of being succulent without being greasy. When I visit the shop what impresses me is the ordering system, upon entering the polite gentleman behind the counter will ask me what I’d like (there could be 7 or 8 people in the shop before me) so that they can get anything which needs cooked into the fryers straight away. This is a small thing but shows caring about the customers waiting time. Even with the price increases which every business was forced into, early 2023 (and for which the shop adopted an apology letter to customers, again just the small things) I have never eaten my fish and chips and thought anything other than ‘that was worth every penny’.

I’ve shopped here for many years food always beautiful that’s why five star but here’s the worse part placed an order for 8.10 my daughter picked it up did nt check the bag as never had an issue when she got home my husband and my fish chips where there tartar sauce but her chip butty and sausage where not in bag so I rang never felt so humiliated in my life saying well we know it was in why the hell would we take our food all the way back to show them for the young lass who served her to keep her back to my daughter and the lad who did nt serve her said we know was in the bag please give me credit I spent 37 pound why would I say a flaming chip butty not in I’ve changed my whole opinion of this place and have always recommended it to everyone upset ain’t the word and you could nt even send an apology to the email we sent the lad who usuall serves us is always top class lad and this is why I’m upset you may not realise saying this makes you sound like you took something shocked behond words really am.(Update) 30/01/2024 :-Regarding the chip butty incident it was v gormans and it was on the 17th January 2024I ordered by phone for my daughter to collect at 8:15She arrived early at 8 and was made to wait till her collection time before it was started. There was a lady and a young man on front one lady fryingMy daughter asked if everything was done they said yesGot home no chip butty special so I rang shop to say it wasn’t there and the male answered and bluntly spoke saying it was 100% in the bag and was rude and said for my daughter to come get anotherWhen my daughter arrived the guy kind of apologised but then said they know it was in the bag but female kept her back to the fryer ( it was the female employee that packed not the male so why he was so sure I don’t know)It’s belittling you saying that it’s not your business that did this as I said it’s a shame as food is alway nice but this experience was really upsetting being accused of stealing a chip butty.

The food delivered was outstanding. Very fast delivery and food piping hot. The whale and chips delicious and the corned beef patty the best I have ever tasted.

This could be such a good wee chippy but it's a bit hit and miss. My last visit was great but other times I've been disappointed.I love the fact that they do proper onion rings!

On Friday 24th we ordered 22 fish & chips and 4 other meals, all to be collected 12-20 for the employees of the business, meals were all ready on time and all hot,not 1 complaint from the lads, fish & chips were fantastic, we will be back!!

The best food for miles, try their cheese patties, they're divine! They also use sustainable packaging for everything, no polystyrene on these chips.Removed 1 star as they often miss something from the order.Dietary restrictions: They will cook the fish unbattered if you can't have gluten.

Best fish and chips for miles, and huge portions too, plus very friendly staff. Well worth travelling for. Fish are lovely and juicy and the batter is the best. Our NE favourite by far.
