V Gormans Fish and Chips
6 Meadowfield, AshingtonMy daughter has used Gormans for a while now and she recommended we try it. I thoroughly enjoyed Scampi and I pinched bits of my husbands cod as it looked lovely white fish with batter crisp and light, chips although I rarely eat potatoes in any form I pinch a few chips off my hubby too they are not greasy and really tasty. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to try them I'm sure you will enjoy.

Blackthorn Way, AshingtonWent for some food before the band.(copperhead which were really good we enjoyed the night) drinks were standard price and it was a nice touch to receive a token with chance to win a bottle of spirit. Service was excellent all staff were very attentive and friendly. Prawn cocktail was lovely however bread was stale so had to ask for butter, ordered steak (as online reviews were good) however this was a mistake as sirloin was terrible, tough and chewy, onion rings were nice, peas were tasteless (would be better to have frozen garden pea) all in all a mixed bag, place was very busy though and on the whole we enjoyed our night out.

I also order on their website and the food is always ready at the selected time.Both the Chicken and Donner are very tasty and the salad is always fresh. The bun, the meat, the salad dressing, everything was supreme and fresh. The fact half pounders were ordered but got quarter pounders ain't gonna deter me. I'll just ask for a special burger which has halloumi cheese too. Got a thin crust double pepperoni as well which was great too.BURGERRRSSSSSSSSEDITJust had the chips that comes with the burgers.Bit of salt and some dip if you have some in and they're superb.

QEII Country Park, AshingtonA fascinating place, well worth visiting. Miners certainly deserved every penny. We spent the best part of the day there and the staff were starting to close up as we left.The art exhibition is extremely good, as is the Pitmen painters room. Loved it.

Only question I ask is could we also get a meal deal where you can get sandwich, drink and a bag of crisps? 158 Woodhorn Rd, AshingtonCame to attend a funeral and looking for a central place to stay. Website quoted £30 for a single room (still does 10/23) but said £40 when I phoned. Paid that no problem for 1 person in twin room. Room was quite spacious and refurbished. Not as clean as it might be but OK. Bathroom modern. Didn't have a drink down in the bar but staff friendly enough and there was a log burning stove. Fine as a drinking man's bar. Free parking was bonus. Would stay again.
