We called in here for an early evening meal after a day at cragside. We were greeted in a friendly manner and sat down to select from the extensive menu. The mince and dumpling was great and my wife enjoyed the hallumi with Mediterranean vegetables. We didn’t stay overnight so I can’t comment on the rooms but the restaurant area was quiet; staff were friendly and very efficient so I would recommend this place for food.Food & drinks: Menu is extensive with good portion size.

Lovely people serving good food at a fair price. Vegetarian option was a ratatouille stuffed aubergine with pesto couscous. The chicken curry was a fair and tasty offering, nothing fancy but good and enjoyable. The Guinness zero was good for the onward journey but best of all it was great to be welcomed to a pub run by attentive staff.

Stopped in for a bite to eat and a pint after walking simonside hills. The food was very good! Hearty home cooked pub classics with very generous portions.Pints were lovely and the service was great. Its dog friendly too so that's always a winner!

Absolutely disgusting attitude from two of the staff (the two old ones) Will definitely never return. If you need to complain about your food don’t bother waste of time! You will be lied to and made to feel like it’s your fault!
