This was our first time here, it is a beautiful country pub. The food was delicious and the waiting staff were really friendly. It was almost a perfect experience until coming to pay. We were eating with a my auntie who insisted on paying the bill, however I made it clear I was discretely paid some of the bill when when ordering puddings and asked it not to mentioned when giving the final bill. We got to the till to pay and I’m presuming the manager made a big deal of the till being frozen and stating that it was “because someone has paid a portion of the bill” and then proceeded to ask whether one of us had already paid some of the bill, which was just frustrating as my auntie would have been non the wiser otherwise. Additionally, I paid a portion of the bill at least 30 minutes prior, so I am doubtful it was my transaction that caused the issue.

Disappointed as had been here before and it was much better. Hardly any gravy and when asked for more got charged for extra. Cauliflower cheese was extra too and was undercooked. Chicken was very dry.

Overcooked tasteless meat, average veg, extra charge to get more gravy. Really average Sunday lunch. The Yorkshire pudding was the only decent bit.

Visited during a Christmas visit to family just after Christmas. I have to say that the experience was great. The staff were very welcoming and the service excellent even though the place was busy during lunchtime service. The food was excellent, the salmon very well cooked, the burger delicious and the steak and ale pie packed with large chunks of tender beef, all the dishes well presented. The desserts were also of great quality and value. Great pub food - impressed and will return

I looked forward to revisiting the Widdy Inn for fish & chips I was definitely not disappointed. My wife and daughter had smoked haddock in a cream sauce served on a bed of greens which looked absolutely delicious apparently it tasted fantastic.

Our first time here and what a lovely experience. Very pleasant lady greeted us on arrival and showed us to a table. Along with a good menu they also have the addition of a specials board. We didn’t have to wait long for our food which was excellent. The ladies that served us were attentive and very pleasant. I would definitely recommend and return .

Stopped by for Sunday Roast lunch. We thought it was a bit overpriced for a single thin slice of beef. One small scoop of mash, same of swede/ carrot mash, a spoonful of cabbage, and what tasted like tinned peas, a couple of small roast potatoes. The Yorkshire pudding was good though. It tasted okay but there just wasn't enough food for us for the price. We prefer to have a side dish of vegetables and we like plenty of them. The female staff were nice just very rushed. I have tried to upload a photo but TA would not accept the format.

Probably the best vegan food in Northumberland, excellent place very friendly and accommodating. Feels like pubs used to feel.

We had wanted to get out for a night and after looking through trip advisor with the filters on we found this great pub. They catered to our 2 dogs which is always handy as they both have their own issues They have a great gluten free menu which meant my partner was able to get 3 courses, in some places she struggles to get more than two options for a main. I went for the pie and mash and loved it. Great portions as well To top off Gluten free sticky toffee pudding If we are ever up this way again will be sure to pop in again

Back for the forth time (we visit the area annually) and things are just as good as they have been in the past. A great selection of draught beers (when we visited it was Timothy Taylor's Landlord (Home from home for me as I live not too far from the Brewery in Keighley, West Yorkshire and Theakston's XB (there was also Theakstons Pale Ale on from a keg) We had 2 main courses and 2 sweets. I chose the Burger (choosing to add cheese and deep fried onion rings as extras), and my wife chose the Northumbrian Cheese Roulade with mustard sauce. Both were extremely tasty and freshly cooked. To follow I had stcky toffee pudding and my wife chose the Créme Brúlée. Total amount including 2 drinks was £51 (+ well deserved tip for the hard working, efficient and very attentive staff). We'll be back next year

Was so good, I had to check they had given me right plate! Fish inside was excellent quality, and portions very generous. Not cheap at £15.50 but overall a great experience

Me and 6 friends visited twice during a week of exploring Northumberland on our motorbikes and, both times, we were really pleased with the food and the service. All the food was nice and fresh and cooked with care and attention. The atmosphere was good in the pub and the staff were all really friendly and helpful. After the first good experience we had to come back and enjoy another meal (that's surely a sign of quality food as not easy to please a group of people to when they ask if we can go back). Thank you to the staff and chefs and, should we be back in the area, we will visit again.
