Great little find. Gluten Free options and light and bright cafe. Friendly staff. Hot meals and cake and tea/coffee.

A delight of a place, warm & welcoming. Lots of interesting things to buy, other than their gorgeous cakes - and savoury pies pasties, sandwiches. And a fire, so cosy.

We had a great lunch at Maelmin Cafe today. Lovely big bowl of soup, the best cheese scone I've had in years and an amazing slice of carrot cake. Thank you ?

Called in for breakfast on way to Kelso races. Best breakfast I have had in a long time and well worth a pit stop. Fry up was plentiful and cooked to perfection with delicious sausages and mushrooms along with bacon beans black pudding hash browns and toast. Staff were friendly and welcoming, pay them a visit you wont be disappointed. Many thanks for kicking our day off in the best way

They say they are dog friendly but they only let in two dogs at a time into said designated area which is a small conservatory area. I was offended at the way our party was turned away due to 2 dogs already being in. So why are there four tables in the dog area and why was one table being occupied by people without a dog! You lost EIGHT customers by turning us away and we found a far kinder reception at the Tankerville arms where the staff were far nicer. We never got to enjoy your lovely looking food and you lost eight orders.

Despite advertising as dog friendly we were told on arrival that only 2 dogs were allowed in the place at one time. The member of staff who gave this information was rude and very unfriendly. Their loss. Our party of eight plus four dogs went to the Tankerville Arms in Wooler where we were all made most welcome.

Although looking a bit tired from the outside this cafe was a pleasant surprise inside with smart seating, high quality local produce and gifts for sale as well as a decent menu. The scampi and chips were homemade and not frozen and came with a fresh green side salad, coleslaw and tartare sauce for about 13 pounds and in big portions which even I (someone not known for abstinence) only just managed to finish. Well cooked and the service was pleasant and efficient. The cutlery was basic and condiments were in packets and sachets which was perhaps a minor quibble but otherwise very happy.

We ordered a Vegan Sausage Roll (vegetarian for 35years) when a sausage’s and bacon sandwich arrived and I said what I had ordered , I was told I had ordered wrongly??? It was reluctantly replaced (not very politely) and no refund offered this was an expensive mistake on my part never to be repeated
