Ate here twice on a recent trip back 'home' to North Northumberland. Sunday lunch and midweek 'supper' with friends. Good food, fresh ingredients, well presented by friendly staff and sensibly priced. Beer was pretty good as well!I have no hesitation in recommending the Red Lion and I'll be back!

Excellent food this evening, and a good choice of beers and wines in a smart but cosy restaurant, served by a friendly, very efficient waitress, thank you! This was our first visit as we are on holiday in the area but would highly recommend the pub/restaurant. Think they also have rooms but we were only there to eat so can't comment on the hotel facilities. Large car park at rear.

This is a new pub we've found. We have a place we go to in Wooler, from time to time, and this is a great find. The steak pies are delish!

After ringing at quite late notice for a table for lunch on New Year's Day we visited the Red Lion having never been to Millfield so we didn't know anything about the pub. I'm so very glad that we did. We've rarely been made to feel so welcome anywhere. There's a good selection of local beers and it was clear the staff knows about each one.Everyone we spoke to was so warm and friendly, and they were obviously proud of the lovely old pub which is in the heart of the village. The village itself is in the most beautiful and timeless place. We both had the steak pie and chips which are made in the pub and they were possibly the best pies we've ever eaten. Big chunks of meat, proper suet pastry, chips, peas and gravy. Out girls had breaded fish off the children's menu and when it came it was a big piece of really fresh fish fried in panko breadcrumbs, it was devine. Our desserts were gorgeous too, a mint Aero cheese cake with loads of chocolate chunks, and a sticky toffee pudding with local Doddington ice cream. Proper pub food made really well and served by people who care. It was just the nicest and most comfortable experience we've had in a very long time. We wanted to stay, we'll definitely come back.

Excellent pub for Sunday roasts and good food in general. Pleasant old fashioned building with friendly staff and well stocked bar. Couldn’t ask for more.

Just had what should have been a nice meal whilst on holiday with my wife. The chips served with the steak and ale pie were probably the worst I have ever had and spoiled the meal.when pointed out to the waitress, she simply said sorry.

Massive clean bed, excellent breakfast and lovely friendly staff and owners it’s dog friendly to an extent although I had to eat in the bar on my own for breakfast maybe they could give off an area of the dining room for residents with a dog. I was aware of the restrictions before I went so not unhappy at all.
