Lovely stop off after a walk. Food and service were excellent.

There was a 3 course menu deal for £9.95, but only if you ate animal products. They have only ONE vegan option on whole menu and this alone is £9.95 for just the one course. Rather discriminatory against dietary requirements with lack of options and opportunity to get involved with the deal offered. No desserts at all, just a coffee, also no non-dairy milk alternatives at all, so that's a black coffee for dessert...Disappointing and quite poor and something that should be looked into especially this day in age when other pubs/restaurants do cater for everyone and do not restrict customers in this way. I personally won't be returning to the fox and hounds, which is a shame as the pub is cosy and has a log fire and live music etc, but will be taking my custom elsewhere.Dietary restrictions: Very limited. I'd recommend going elsewhere that does cater for a wider audience.

Called in after walking from Wallsend and was tempted by the sausage casserole being advertised on the bar for £9.95. Well worth it as it was huge and came with either chips or mash plus peas and extra gravy. Service was prompt and courteous. It was an excellent meal.

Visited today for Sunday dinner after a lovely stroll along the Tyne. Was promptly seated upon arrival by a helpful and attentive member of staff who took our orders for food and drinks. When the food arrived we immediately knew we were in for a treat. I plumped for the belly pork and my boyfriend chose the beef. Both dishes arrived with roast and mashed potatoes, stuffing balls and a Yorkshire pudding. A separate dish of mixed vegetables and a jug of pan gravy arrived which was divine. We also ordered a separate dish of cauliflower cheese and when we asked for extra gravy it arrived within seconds. We eat out regularly for Sunday dinner and can honestly say this is up there with the best. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return.

Has Sunday lunch. Lovely meat, plenty of veg. Order small portions but plenty on plate. Veg and extra gravy came separate. Good value for money.

Having walked along the beautiful Newburn Riverside Park, we called into the Fox & Hounds for a meal. The food arrived promptly, and was excellent - a chicken and leek pie with home-made chips, and liver and bacon with mash. Everything was perfectly cooked, except the chips, which were a little overdone or had been left on a hot plate for too long, otherwise this would’ve been a five star review! There’s an extensive menu of good pub grub, with several daily specials. Recommended, especially after a long walk!

Ordered 4 meals, very good portions and very much "pub" food, nothing super fancy. All tasted good, also vegetarian options... Great service, friendly staffVegetarian options: Had Pie and mash for £6.95 - cheese and onion pie was veggie option

O.k for a drink, but not for food. My companion ordered mince & dumplings. The ' dumpling' was like cardboard. I ordered the scampi - the presentation looked good, the scampi was a generous portion if a little too crunchy, but the chips were disgusting. They tasted as if they had been reheated in a very cheap oil. Neither myself or my companion could stomach them. We then realised that nobody else was eating in the pub, which should have been a warning.

Best roast dinner we have had in a while, we are truly stuffed! Staff were polite and friendly. Food very reasonably priced. There was even some colouring activities for our little one to keep her occupied. Will definitely come back if we are in the area again

Had a bacon, sausage and tomato bap washed down with a pint of Cruzcampo (just to break up the bike ride) Monday midday and very quiet. Was asked how I would like my bacon doing (nice touch) Food spot on and all very friendly here. Nice little boozer. Recommended 100 per cent.
