Popped by for a last minute take away vegan pizza. One of the best I have had. Will be going back!

As the young man taking the phone call would not take our booking stating my husband was not polite. I tried to make the booking on hearing the name Clarkson he refused the booking!! We have lived in this village most of our lives and been welcome in every restaurant and pub several times over. I listened as my husband made the booking please was definitely in his request. I have to say on trying to clarify if we had a booking or not the young man in question sounded intoxicated!! Not the way to run a restaurant!! My husband and myself are old school we know how to be polite perhaps it's because we didn't say mate!!

Delicious food, I can't fault any of the selection that was served to us. The pizza tasted amazing and the chips were perfectly fried. The music was quite loud which would be the only thing I'd change though we were seated near the speaker.

Fabulous freshly prepared and wood fired pizza. Good vibes, good music and friendly welcoming staff team. Food was delicious and plentiful and prices reasonable. We shall return ?

Visited last night after a lovely walk with friends. A party of eight and all of us said the food was amazing, best garlic bread ever & huge meaty prawns! Fab service, really cosy great selection of drinks for those drinking & dry January. Thanks for a lovely night, we will be back!

My first visit and certainly won't be my last. Came here with a group of 17 work colleagues. The Pizzas were amazing along with the starters, sides and drinks selection. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, staff were attentive and welcoming. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a fab evening

There are only two real pizza places in the northeast this is one of them. But if it's closed as it often is late evening or fully booked... Fouchi on Westgate road is the other. Both have amazing stone baked fresh doe pizzas with traditional toppings. Don't swear by mentioning dominoes! There's quality then there's fast food....this is most certainly the crem de le creme

I think since ownership take over or a new pizza maker the pizzas seem different. ???I ordered a Steak ragu and it was very different to a few months ago? The steak used to take juicy and as it was soaked in red wine but lately this has changed.

The best pizza base and tastiest toppings in the North East! I'm lucky enough to live close by and that wood oven is smokin'. Great atmosphere and wonderful service. Highly recommended ☆☆☆☆☆

Visited tonight with my husband and 2 young daughters. Great atmosphere, attentive staff, beautiful fresh food full of flavour ? and a lovely selection of drinks. This place has a fantastic vibe and we really enjoyed the music choice, especially my 2 year old who had a good dance on a number of occasions. The kitchen staff never stopped and neither did the door, every table was full and the number of takeaway boxes going out speaks volumes. Wish we lived closer as we’d be regulars without a doubt. Thank you

Super friendly and professional staff, a very good choice of pizzas, I had the pesto one and it was just yummy.

A place that is let down by the attitude of the owners.Very expensive take away pizza. They have a slot system that plans where you can be served. Which makes sense when you are aware of the operation. But as someone who were just visiting, I was disappointed to be met with a passive-aggressive attitude to the fact I didn’t book a “slot”. I didn’t like that! The restaurant/room is extremely small with very small tables. With take away customers constantly walking past you. I didn’t like that.

We went for a takeaway and ordered 4 pepperoni pizzas, the dough was lovely and toppings were fresh.....so filling too, we had to leave some and save it for the next day. Better pizza than any other takeaway we've had.

A group of us (6) descended on the Wood Oven as part of our reunion evening. Quite small, very cozy inside. Eclectic, artisan pizzas. Tasty....? 2 of us were not partaking in alcohol ( driving ), I don't like fizzy drinks etc, but do enjoy either tea or coffee. I was disappointed to be informed they serve neither!! Really??? ? As I had been drinking coffee prior at the pub opposite, I asked whether I could bring one over....yes, no problem! So across the road, takeaway coffee and back to my table! Gave us a laugh and made the night memorable!

My husband organised a surprise party for me with friends and family here at the Wood Oven and what excellent service, collaboration and willingness he described in the whole planning and execution. Not to mention the absolutely 5 star food, drink, and service we received. I don’t know what a couple of minor previous reviews are talking about when they say The Wood Oven is not what it used to be - the quality is absolutely gold standard, they have added fantastic sides which I always wanted previously, a range of new pizza toppings which are delicious. We had a party of 19 - only 4 others of whom had been before and everyone was so thrilled with everything. Really can’t fault anything on this visit, thank you to all the team and big props to you all with the new branding and adapted menu- going from strength to strength I’d say!
