Ordered food and once ready brought up to us upstairs.Shop was really busy and you have to be careful with your times so that the queue isn't too scary.

Friendly little cafe. Can be very busy at lunchtime but worth the wait.

The location and ambience of the restaurant can be great. We were booked in over lunch and we were emailed the menu that we could choose from (a set tapas menu) - which we were happy with (as one guest was a vegetarian). Can understand that the restuarnt have limited options. But it is unfair that a restaurant can email the cutomer and say this is the only menu you can have (and then its up to the cutomer to take it or leave it), yet without notification they can change it without an apology or reason. Arrived at the restaurant on the day only to be told after being seated that the tapas menu was not available and we had to order from the normal menu which was twice the price. Now, I do not mind a change, but the retsaurant could easily have communicated this in advance by email or phone (as they have these details). More importantly, when I asked for the tapas menu whilst seated - they said, its no longer available (and that's it). A free coffee would have softened the blow of what could have been a lovely lunch as a pre christmas celebration. We did mention this to the manager who said the right things, but did nothing. I even emailed the venue aftwards to see why this was not communicated and no response. Shame that the quality of service does not match the quality of food. I don't mind changes but its up to me to choose to pay the higher price not be forced into an uncomfortable situation on the day in front of your guests.

Wonderful food and a wonderful service, quick and efficient and the place was stunning, highly recommended and will certainly go again. We were served by a lady called Abi who was brilliant at her role and made us feel very welcome and is an asset to the team and company

Fantastic, delicious and well looked after experience at the Lakeside. A family gift for Christmas did not disappoint with our helpful and polite waitress - Somma. The food was presented immaculately and extremely tasteful. The vegan option compares to one of the best meals ever presented at a restaurant. One point to note, the music playlist should be more tasteful considering the image and professionalism the venue portrays, but thats not even a criticism, as we well be back. Thank you Somma, the other hosting staff and the chefs. Priced well within the expected price range for the quality. Could not recommend a nicer venue.

CAUTION!!! Absolute con-artists!! Booked tickets to an event but never received. When contacted they claim tickets have been sent. They will NOT resend tickets or refund even when they have confirmed our booking. When pushed, they have told us we will not be coming to their event and that they will give our tickets away but not issue a refund. This company can not be trusted!

We attended Breakfast with santa on saturday 17th december, as we walked into the hall we thought wow the venue looked amazing. But sadly it all went downhill from there. we were shown to our table and there was already a huge que for breakfast buffett, once we finally got served the brekfast was luke warm as well as the tea and coffee, but it is what it is the main reason we was there was for our children to see santa. WELL the “santa” was the most least convincing santa i have ever seen in my whole life, il attach a photo, i’m unsure if the original santa had rang up sick and they had to get someone to step in last minute or if this is generally the santa they have for this experience, i can’t imagine any of the older kids there believing that petite woman dressed in a santa suit 10 sizes to big for her and just her eyes poking out was the real deal. But to actually get up to see “santa” was absolutely chaos. when we were first sat down we was told we would be invited up from our table family by family, well this did not happen. people started queuing at the bottom of the stairs. when we found a memeber of staff and asked what was happening they told us we would be added to the list, well we was completely unaware that this list even excisted, we waited over an hour and half after we had finished breakfast and that’s with a 7 month old baby and 1 year old toddler as i’m sure any parent would understand that it’s not the easiest job to keep them entertained in once place for that length of time especially when wanting naps etc. It was very very un organised, i felt sorry for the staff as you could see how stressed they all were, This experience was definitely not worth £18 per person and would not recommend to anyone and certainly will not be going back next year, i would just like to point out this is the first review i have ever left in my life as i’m a very easy going person and sometimes unfortunately you do have bad experiences when you visit certian places but you just have to take it for what it is. but i couldn’t not comment on this experience.

For over £50 for two adults and a child to have breakfast with Santa was really not worth it and very disappointing. Breakfast was self service and a choice of cooked (but served cold!!) Breakfast or continental....but not both. Choice of juice or coffee, but the coffee jugs were broken and it was impossible to get a hot drink which when you're sat in a very cold hall, would have been nice. The visit to Santa was upstairs and lasted 1 minute only. Not very friendly and didn't give a memorable experience. He didn't do any floor walks and the only character was The Grinch who wandered round whilst the staff were dressed as elves collecting plates. I really had high hopes because of the price but we won't be back next year and will stick with the garden centre experiences.....much cheaper and far better.

A member of our party has coeliac disease and as Lakeside offer a special Gluten Free menu we were looking forward to eating. To make sure there were no mix-ups we all ordered from the GF menu. Our meal was served at our table by various staff members. Halfway through our meal we were informed that one of our dishes did in fact contain gluten. Unfortunately, half of it had been eaten by the coeliac guest. Our server was hugely apologetic and said she would bring out the correct dish. By this time we decided to go home as the reaction to ingesting gluten would be severe. A few minutes a later, our server came out again and said the chef said it was only the fried potatoes on the dish that were the contaminant and not the full dish. The chef needs to be retrained and educated on allergens and how dangerous this can be. Coeliac disease does not recognise a ‘slight’ contaminant. I merely send this email so management at The Lakeside can educate the chef and kitchen staff to highlight the dangers of allergens. If this was an anaphylaxis reaction, the outcome could be much more serious. This allergen ‘mix up’ is not acceptable. I’m quite shocked and disappointed that allergen errors have been made in an establishment such as Lakeside. A complaint was emailed to management on several occasions, and eventually after a month or so, a generic reply was sent which failed to address any issues I had raised.
