We come here every month but unfortunately we’ve noticed the food isn’t what it used to be. We were also a little disappointed with the service this time - I have a dairy allergy and rather than offering alternatives I was just met with no you can’t have that, no you can’t have that. It would be so much better if there was a matrix that I could see to identify what I could have. I ended up with a plant based starter which was awful and just tasted of salt! Other family members said the Sunday dinner wasn’t as good as what it had been previously. Won’t be coming again.

Disappointing experience.Got put in a table of 3, that was placed very badly..little space around a busy section, so people constantly kep hitting back of wife's chair walking around the restautant. Got asked early on to get moved to an empty table of 4, but was told it was booked...but then only 3 people showed up. Manager didn't care.

Visited for the first time with family for Sunday lunch on 4th February 2024. Sadly the dining room was more like a crèche than a restaurant, and the noise was simply overbearing with music playing over the top of the din. I'm a great believer in teaching children to appreciate food, but not at that volume.Leaving the table meant a veritable obstacle course of high chairs and push chairs to negotiate. The beef was cooked pink as requested but the fat had to be cut away which for me spoilt an otherwise acceptable dish.If there is a next time, I won't choose a Sunday and will try the à la carte. I was expecting more from a restaurant with 2 AA rosettes and left disappointed.

Great place for lunch - food was very good, as was the service and environment. Thoroughly recommend - one of the very best pubs in Notts in my opinion.

I was looking forward to a nice meal here with my sister & brother in law who had driven from Chester. I arrived first , no one there to greet me so I went to the bar where I spoke to a young girl. She took me to our table with a variety of menus. There was an awful cold draught every time the entrance door opened, When my sister arrived a young chap came over , on a Friday afternoon on 22nd of December you would expect some sort of happy vibes, it was quite depressing,no music & miserable faces . I don't drink so asked the chap for a j20. They don't sell it so I chose a sparkling elderflower , no ice. A while later our drinks arrived, I had a glass to the brim of ice & elderflower tonic! It was bitter & not nice , it is more of a mixer drink. I expected a nice sweet presse . The menus had us quite confused with abbreviation letters on some dishes you didn't have a clue what they meant. Waited quite a while for our food. It was very nice when it did arrive. I was looking forward to dessert as I had opted for the two course menu which wasn't cheap. Sadly there was none left of the lemon posset , nothing else appealed . There was nothing chocolate on the menu which is a must at Christmas. Very disappointed so I just had a main course. The waiter was curt & a face like thunder. Having worked for thirty odd years in catering,a smiling happy attitude is what's required! I left feeling as if I had been an inconvenience & ripped off , the bill was £100 for three covers & needless to say we won't be going ever again.
