Disappointed with quantity and quality of food, noisy muzak and lack of signs to car park.

Great pub for drinks and atmosphere, but the food let it down and the tables were sticky.

My sister lives in Sheffield, us in Stamford so this was an ideal half way meeting point. Upon arrival the pub was warm and friendly and had the open fire cracking. The lady that greeted us was amazing! And was there throughout our whole visited and was incredible accommodating. We had an age range of 1-71 and there was 9 of us in the group. The food was normal pub grub which we all enjoyed. It was more the service that shone. We were able to move into the garden room to have coffees and open christmas presents. It’s was amazing. Thank you so much. Well definitely be back as out half way meeting point! ?

We booked in for Christmas lunch with a large family from 5 years old to over 80. The food was excellent (meat was super succulent and the Yorkshire puddings melt in your mouth delicious), but what really made me write a review is that the staff were so friendly that we felt that we had been invited into their home. Thank you so much!

We had 15 of us in a beautiful room at the bag of the pub. So light and plenty of room for us all. We had small children, teenagers, young adults and adults and we all were so impressed with the service, decorations, the amount of food and generally how they bent over backwards to make sure we had the best Christmas Day and we did! Thanks so much guys. Top stars for you. Kids were happy so we were all happy! Would definitely go again.

After our visit to the Minster and a walk around the town we called in here for a welcome drink before leaving Southwell. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed a nice drink in this pub, nothing to dislike, would recommend visiting when you are in the town.

Love this pub! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious! We met as a family for Christmas lunch and, even though we turned up late due to diversions on the roads, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely return!

Our first time here for our annual family get together, party of 11 ,most were late due to diversions, but the staff were very kind and patient. The food was really good and special needs were catered for by the friendly staff. We loved the table decorations , the place was warm and welcoming. Definitely recommended and will try to return in the summer.

We had a reserved table for 4 people at 5.30pm. We were attending a music concert at the Minster and needed to be there for approx 7.15pm. One couple arrived early at the pub, 5.20pm, unfortunately the second couple had a traffic issue and were 15mins late. Within 5mins of us all being there we went to the bar to order our food. The first two ordered and paid individually for their food & drink, one ordered and paid for the food & drink for the two others in the group. After waiting for over 45mins I approached a staff member to ask if the food was imminent, I was told 5mins. After 5mins the meals for the two who'd ordered separately arrived. After a further 7mins waiting I went to the bar to ask if the other meals were on the way. A staff member said, 'oh they'll be another 10mins or so as you didn't order all together!' The 3 members of the group who went to the bar all ordered within a minute of each other for the same table, there were no orders taken in between. One of our group is a slow eater and felt under pressure to eat her food too quickly, which would've made her feel unwell. So I went back to the bar and asked for a refund. I was then told the meals, 'wouldn't be long, just a few minutes', that would've taken the time after ordering to over one hour! I declined the food and did receive an apology, 'sorry, there was a rush at 5pm when 14 meals were ordered', our orders were placed 50mins later! We were given two bags of complimentary crisps. Overall, nice welcoming pub, decent staff but a terrible ordering system which resulted in two very hungry people sat in the Minster feeling very dejected!

We booked our table for four people dining . I had a Bombay chicken skewers for Starters. Then a festive burger for main course. My wife had stake. The festive burger had a deal with a alcoholic drink for an extra £1.50 for a pint. Good value and service from the bar staff. Good atmosphere on a Saturday evening.

The Rodney in itself hasn't changed much from the good old days if you're staying for a drink, but the food is absolutely abysmal. 1.30pm had run out of roast dinners, although the kitchen staff didn't realise this until we had ordered, paid and waited 20 minutes. Half the menu wasn't available either in alternative. Should have gone elsewhere at this point as food arrived was a disgrace. 10oz horseshoe gammon was like a slice of bacon, chicken was rubbery and dry and vegetables were cooked within an inch their lives. Everything was bland had very little flavour. One member of our party didn't have a meal at all after returning it, we all would have returned it if we hadn't already waited about an hour for it to arrive and my 2yr old was hungry and board. Appalling, won't be going back for food ever again.

Ah, let me tell ya, folks, this here pub is the bee's knees! I waltzed in with my pals and was greeted with a hearty beverage and a warm smile. The ambiance? It's like stepping back in time to the good ol' days when people actually talked to each other. The brews, let me tell ya, they're top-notch! A frothy pint of beer that'll make your taste buds tango with delight. And the food? Well, it's as tasty as your grandma's meatloaf on a Sunday afternoon. The staff, oh my, they're as friendly as a neighbor borrowin' a cup of sugar. They treat ya like family, and that's a rare find these days. So, if you want a swell time, head on down to The Admiral Rodney– it's the cat's pajamas!
