“A great find in a wonderful rural setting offering fabulous food quality and hospitality. Definitely marked as a place to revisit for next holiday.
Japanese cured beef was so succulent with perfect accompaniments. The tempura courgette flower was delicious as was the accompanying vegetable bad offering wonderful flavour bombs and very well seasoned. Thank you!!”

“What a lovely and welcoming pub! I arrived late with an unusual request, and the landlord (Rob) couldn't be more welcoming and accommodating. I'll make sure to be earlier next time and pop in for lunch in the fabulous beer garden.”

“I had my hen party at Tipsy Mercer and it was absolutely incredible! The bar staff were amazing — so friendly and fun, and we loved that they joined in with us. We did the conga, lots of dancing. And they really looked after our group and made the night unforgettable. We honestly didn’t want it to end! Thank you to DJ, Chris, and Jess for giving us the best night. You made it so special! My group are already trying to find an excuse to come back.”

“We have frequently eaten here and, until recently, we have received good service and great food at a reasonable price. However, on two recent visits, we received poor service, having to ask for a drink, water etc. They seemed short staffed and their regular staff did not seem to be there. Today we visited and received dried out food although it wasn’t even hot. I returned my food and asked for it to be removed from my bill which I was told would happen. I did not take up the offer of a replacement so did not eat anything. We paid a total of £33.00 for two starters, one of which was returned and not replaced, two glasses of wine and two teas. I realised after paying that they had not deducted the cost of my inedible food. I tried to call by ‘phone but no reply. I will not be returning. It is such a shame as the surroundings are lovely. Obviously a change of staff has had an impact but I really could not recommend eating there where as previously I would.

I have today re-visited The Dog House and have now updated my review. We were served very quickly by Niamh who was pleasant and helpful. The service was excellent throughout our meal. Some familiar staff are now back and the whole atmosphere is once again, good.
Obviously, the previous staff were not the usual staff so it is such a shame that this had such a negative impact on the service and food.
I will now be more than happy to return there and would be happy to recommend The Dog House as a place to visit.”

“Arrived for lunch on a weekday. Ordered buttermilk chicken burger which included a side of French fries. Portion size of main meal was small given the price. Apple & Rhubarb Crumble with a side of warm custard for dessert was very good quality and tasteful.”
