Great atmosphere and friendly yet somehow quirky service, food tasted exquisitely! Although coffee machine needs a clean, espresso tastes burnt!

Went for a meal with my husband. As usual the food was exceptional and the service was great. The only issue was a family group with three small children who were running amok and shrieking (around 8pm) When we (and other patrons) asked for them to be controlled this was resolved however I don't believe customers should have to request this.

Lovely friendly atmosphere, need to drop by for more than a drink and sample the food!

Food wasn't great for what it was. Stingy ingredients and poorly cooked. Service was slow and unattentive (no fault of staff, totally due to management allowing the evening to be understaffed). Default service charge added to bill soured the evening (was obviously removed becaused service was sub-par) - don't do this. This isn't the US. If you want tips, provide better service. Manager needs to improve. Feel sorry for the service staff. Also witnessed a member of staff use the toilet and not wash his hands...

Four of us had a really delicious Sunday lunch including Hake with Jerusalem artichoke, Cod and chips, roast beef dinner, Cesar salad, sticky toffee pudding and tiramisu. All delicious. Really well prepared food. Excellent service, the team rallied around and sorted out our table after our guests were delayed and ensured we had a brilliant experience.

Sadly a real disappointment! This looked like a lovely pub however the service (or lack thereof) and uncleanliness really let it down. We had booked for lunch but had to order all our drinks at the bar, had to chase down waiters to order food and as soon as food arrived (nearly an hour after we arrived) we were then abandoned despite bar staff standing around chatting to staff and playing with children. A real lack of vegetables with the roast and the disabled loo/baby change was horrifically dirty with only a sanitary bin for all waste.

Lovely dog friendly pub with excellent food. Great place to break up our trip from Manchester to Portsmouth to have some great food and let the dog stretch his legs. We will be coming back every time we are in the area.

Went for a family meal, food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. Kyle and Francesca looked after us and we were impressed with the service. Will be back soon!

Amazing lunch and such good pricing for the wonderful quality of the food served. Our waiter was lovely and very quickly rectified a mistake and even reduced the bill without being asked. We were visiting family and after such a brilliant experience we are going back next week. The atmosphere in the pub was lovely as well.

Beyond all our expectations - great food and good beer. The Duck was memorable - well deserved 5 stars.

Had lunch here recently but very disappointed with the quality of the food. There were six of us and all said the same thing. Pub wasn't busy either, maybe that's why!

My partner and I are regular visitors to the wonderful pub!!We have never felt the need to leave a review, though after our lunchtime visit today, we both wanted to put down on record what a gem this is in the Oxfordshire countryside.Staff are always engaging, the chef is so very personal, always coming to your table to discuss menu choices.Today, we both started with the cheese and haddock soufflé, which were spectacular, followed by a beautifully cooked duck breast and ribeye steak, both were wonderful. This pub cannot be recommended high enough, when looking for an eatery I would say look no further than the Fox at Boars Hill!!
