Had a courtyard room, no.16, which was compact to say the least and a far cry from the loveky double room advertised on the site. We assume these are the rooms inside the hotel. So rather disappointed. During the stay we had no hot water just luke warm. That said , the staff were totally lovely and friendly. Checking in were smooth and easy, it's just ashame the actual room let the place down. Doubt would stay again sorry.

Stayed for 3 nights in a courtyard room. The room was very tired, after using the shower there was a lot of water on the floor as there is no bath screen or curtain, curtain pole over entry door to room was hanging off. Breakfast was excellent as were the evening meals, very limited menu with only 4 choices for main course. The staff however POwere absolutely amazing especially Kim & Ben, If it wasn't for the staff we wouldn't stay again.

We were given a key on arrival that wouldn't open the door to our room. After it had been altered we discovered why; it was already occupied and had someone else's luggage in it. We were then given a different room. This had an en suite bathroom but it had no door! Yes, it was up two steps in one corner of the bedroom but there was no privacy at all. Smaller niggles were the lack of glasses - we used the cups for drinks of water in the night. There was no information sheet, either, with details of fire escapes or meal times etc. Net curtains would be better, too, so we could get changed without leaving the curtains closed and the lights on. We had been looking forward to the dinner choices shown on the website menu but when we sat down at the table we found a sheet of paper with the 'revised' menu on it. It was very much shorter, with a poor, uninspiring selection of food - breaded chicken, poached salmon, a burger and a veggie option. Not only that, after four of our group had chosen the salmon we were told that no one else could have it as they only had four pieces available. This was not late in the evening but at 6.30pm. My husband had the breaded chicken. It was burnt and the potatoes accompanying it were so bad that the blackened skins we're flaking off. I asked for it to be changed. The next plate had more breaded chicken - still burnt, but perhaps not so much. The potatoes seemed to be the same ones - burnt black. No one seemed to know what was going on and confusion reigned. Things improved the next morning and there were more choices for breakfast. It was brought quickly and was nicely cooked and tasty. However, I had to check quite a few bowls for my fruit and yogurt before I could find one that looked completely clean. Perhaps the staff are all new and inexperienced but there needs to be a serious change in the organisation of this hotel if it is to continue in business.

Just got back home from afternoon tea with friends, We have never experienced such an awful tea.The sandwiches were ok if you liked cheese, cheese With everything thick ham with cheese, tomatoes with cheese, tuna with cucumber, the cake was shop bought slab cake thinly sliced, no scones with jam and cream totally different from advert for cakes. This was such a disappointment especially bringing friends from away .we just wanted what anyone would expect for afternoon tea, it was more like canteen teas.Never again will we visit Cartwright Arms for anything certainly not a meal dread to think.

Found this hotel by pure fluke! We had stayed at another hotel, which was atrocious! And we had to find another one quickly. We were met by friendly helpful staff, who was more than helpful. Making sure we were okay? The food was delicious and an impressive choice for breakfast! Thank you. We will be back

Pleasantly suprised. Reception staff very professional which makes refreshing change these days. Parking easy. Room was spacious with everything you needed and a peaceful sleep and relaxing time was had. Breakfast was also good and well organised, with a nice restaurant area. Maybe the only thing was the price. Not so sure it was worth £100 for one night, but nonetheless, everything was very nice. Next time we are in the area, will definitely return

Lovely little hotel in the village of Aynho. Arrived in afternoon and got a parking space. Although parking is limited. We were here for a family wedding so had several rooms and suites booked. The check in was not very well organised and rooms and suites booked for different guests had been mixed up. Apparently this was down to a previous member of staff who had now left employ. So in the hotels defence they did sort it out. Our suite was a little tired and had absolutely no daylight at all as the windows are obscured by tall leylandii trees. Apart from that the suite was comfortable and well equipped. Other family and friends rooms and suits were nice. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was nice. Breakfast on two mornings was excellent. For the money this is a good value hotel. At check out the reception lady did apologise for the mix up with rooms so all was forgiven If you do stay avoid room seven, unless you like sitting in the dark Would I return. Yes

Me and my fiancée spent one night at the Cartwright Hotel as we were attending a wedding reception at The Great Barn around the corner. We were greeted by a lovely lady, think she was the owner, who checked us in. The room was nicely decorated with a countryside cottage feeling, wooden beams and exposed brick. We both had dinner and few drinks in the hotel restaurant and bar which was delicious and the staff was great. The barman helped booked us a taxi. Be aware that despite a 3 minute drive to The Great Barn, the taxi cost £16 as it came from Banbury. Overall, the hotel was great with onsite parking too. The staff were great and felt very welcome. Would definitely stay again and recommend it.

Faultless stay. Great customer service, nothing was too much trouble. Spotless and cosy room on a chilly, snowy night.

stayed here for a weekend getaway and will be back no doubt. Mrs Caroline and her team looked after up with a friendly smile making our weekend even more magical. Cozy / homely feeling with a second to none breakfast. None of this typical fry-up. Enjoyed my eggs royal with a nice cup of coffee and some fruit, cereal and other goodies. We were travelling with our 3 year old and she had plenty to choose from the breakfast offering. Room was large and included a small pull out bed that my daughter slept in. Hotel is a stones away from lovely visiting places in the cotswold. thanks again to the Cartwright Hotel team for making this stay such a lovely, restful and invigorating stay.
