Country pub with down to earth service.

Fish and Chips looked better than it tasted. Poorly presented, bland fish and not over warm. Service was average and I was appalled to find a 10% service charge added to the bill. A disappointing experience.

A delicious Sunday lunch cooked perfectly. The staff were helpful and obliging. Great real ale. Will definitely be going again.

The pub managed to deliver a culinary experience that made one nostalgic for the nuanced flavours of a McDonald's, yet at a price point that suggested a misplaced decimal or perhaps a jest at our expense, serving as a stark reminder that patience, and not flavour, was the afternoon's speciality.

I had a business meeting and the pies on the specials were amazing for me and my colleague , I would use it again for a working lunch

Step into The Chequers, and you’ll feel like you’ve wandered into a storybook. The thatched roof, ancient beams, and cozy corners evoke a sense of timelessness. Whether you’re seeking refuge after a countryside ramble or celebrating life’s simple pleasures, this pub wraps you in its warm embrace.

Really disappointed. I was looking forward to the GF options but ended up with a totally tasteless meal. Processed fake meat in a gluten free roll with chips. The “salad” was lettuce and a two hard slices of tomato. Took an hour to come as there was only one chef which we weren’t told when we came ordered it was only mentioned when I asked how long the food would be (after 45mins) Service was unfriendly. Definitely would not go again.

Lovely old pub just off A34/M40. We had two evening meals here and they were great. Easy walking distance if you're staying at Weston Manor Hotel and fancy a pint or two of the excellent beer.

Visited for the first time today, food was beautiful, yet a service charge of 10 percent had been added to my bill , that I had not discovered until I saw the receipt when I got home 112 miles away. I paid cash , not card. Ask before you take please.

Quality of the food was amazing, and perfect portion sizes. I was surprised to see a Bao bun on a Sunday pub roast menu but I would highly recommend it. The menu isn't very big but this place is definitely quality over quantity. Will definitely be going back! Good to see a vegan option too for Sunday roast.Vegetarian options: Vegan roast option

We met relatives here today 9 of us (1 hr drive for everyone) to celebrate my 80th birthday. Pub found by chance on Google maps when looking for somewhere we could all get to. What a lucky find. Hospitality felt like that of home. Brilliant service by lovely young people, an hospitable kind friendly host, and truly excellent food. I had roast beef. Succulent and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. And pricing very fair for such excellent food and service. Pub marked by us all as get-at-able for future meeting up. Thankyou all so much team.

Very organised, very welcoming and very good food. We enjoyed an Afternoon Tea which was comprehensive and tasty and imaginative and good value for money.
