An ok pub/restaurant. We stayed for one night. Dinner was quite ok, if not astounding. I ordered the Duck rillette starter and we both had the Pork belly main. They were well cooked if uninspiring. Quality of ingredients was good. The crumble was excellent, but cheese board let down by soft artisan crackers. One of the staff was very friendly, but the other was very standoffish - although service was always prompt. It was cold in the main bar.Breakfast was a disappointment, taking 30 minutes to arrive and the order was wrong and toast, forgotten. We think it had been stood ready for some time waiting to be served.Room was ok with comfy bed but not comfy pillows. All in all a bit of a mixed place but we wouldn't stay again.

DON’T GO HERE!! This was the most appalling meal I have had in years. It took an hour for our main course to arrive, after ‘nibbles’ of whitebait (sardines) and garlic focaccia which was like Co-op sourdough. We were told the pasta, which came in a puddle of water, was holding everything up ‘because it was cooked from fresh’. Rubbish. None of the food had enough salt. And the worst thing: the sight of the chef laughing. This is my first restaurant review on Google.

Unfortunately there is more wrong with the food here, than right. It is served lukewarm and is very expensive for what is served. The staff couldn't even be bothered to light the tea lights on our tables. Don't waste fifty quid on what would be "2 meals for £20" anywhere else.

We had visited the angel a year ago and had a Sunday lunch which totally smashed it out the park... Greens, awesome roast potatoes the works. Fast forward to this recent visit and we could not believe how much has changed. We ordered roast chicken and got an over cooked tough 1/2 chicken that was almost impossible to eat. Next up the roast potatoes seemed to be just large rock hard lumps cooked in vegetable oil. Finally the veg. We were given a bowl of chopped up carrot, sweed and something else, beetroot perhaps? No greens, no cauliflower; a very poorly put together Sunday roast and certainly not worth the £23 per roast we paid. It was very overpriced...The service was timely, and the waiting staff polite. But it's the food which has massively let the Angel down and sadly we won't return.

Didn't realise it was a hotel. Called in for food and was given a menu to choose from. We chose the fish and chips, and didn't fancy anything else on the menu. The fish was watery and I think it was cooked from frozen, although the chips were lovely. It wasn't until after we had ordered that we noticed the specials board. This wasn't pointed out to us when we were given the menu. There was a nice fire lit in the front of the pub and we opted to sit in the warmth by the fire.

Came here to check the negative reviews and sure enough, I saw exactly what I expected... Be very wary of a place which goes into full rebuttal of customers' complains online...Our experience today was discrimination, plain and simple. First time visitors in Cotswold, we just wandered into this pub well past lunch time. We were in the middle of a conversation in our native tongue when we got through the front door. People behind the bar could clearly hear us not speaking in English. We waited for a bit but everyone ignored us so we waved a young waiter who walked past us. We asked if we can get a table. He stopped, gaves us a long look head to toe and asked if we have a reservation. We said no, and he said that then he cannot seat us and walked off visibly annoyed. We stood a bit confused, because the place was half empty inside and there was literary no one in the garden. We looked at each other and I asked what people wanted to do in this case, but again, I didn't say it in English. The waiter stopped. Initially he seemed in a hurry to serve a table, but had not walked more than ten steps away from us. He turned around, walked back to us and with fake politeness told us that if we just go outside and walk towards the main street, we will find a pub that we may like.Yep, that's how they kicked out my 70-year old mother, my pregnant sister and me...

We ate at the Angel last night and I was very disappointed to say the least! We made a reso for 6, we choose this location because of the pork belly! My pork belly was very tasty, yet it wasn’t anywhere near hot enough! The butternut squash swish was cold, apparently according to our server that’s is how it’s served. The Boulanger potatoes were Luke warm at best. One member of our group said that her ravioli was bland and not hot, which in my experience should not happen, pasta out of the pot tossed and served.I’ve been cooking professionally for fifty years, the last 15 years as a culinary arts teacher and I have judged both Provincial and National Cooking competitions in Canada, and I think I know my way around a kitchen and the expectations therein!

Great Sunday lunch. My wife had roast chicken, which was huge and I had roast beef. Both were excellent and highly recommended. Good beer, Hooky, and the wine list was excellent a lot of my favourite wines at an ok price. Highly recommended .Walkability: Very good walks from the pub and details can be provided.

Food was OK but service wasn’t great. Small portions and expensive for what it is. No one asked how we found our meals. Wouldn’t go back.

Had some lunch here this week. Fish chip's & mushy peas with tartar sauce. Great service well cooked food I'm not a lover of mushy peas but these were superb and the best I've ever had along with a fantastic tartar sauce.
