I was at the carpenters Arms with a friend .we had the prawn toast and whitebait to start which was so fresh and crisp. The mains of seabream and mussel chowder is the best I've tasted.it was followed by a very lovely apple and blackberry crumble plenty of fruit and lovely home made ice cream which we share. All in all a lovely lunch. The service was no intrusive but also felt looked after by Holly and Kate.Parking: Enough parking for 25 car's

Top notch. Only had a drink as we were muddy and walking through. Warm friendly lovely ladies behind the bar. That's what hospitality is all about. Sadly same could not be said for a number of the pubs in

Despite the fact that André Chiang wasn't our chef (there is even an olive tree growing there in front of the entrance ?), but the dinner was simply amazing. The food was devine and every dish was a pleasant surprise!

One of the best Sunday dinners we ever had. Our son has food allergies and the way the staff went above and beyond to cater for him was absolutely incredible. The food was very tasty and every single course was worth the experience. All in all one of the best places to dine in. Highly recommended!

Wow. What a find. My partner and I came for dinner on Wednesday for his birthday meal and were elated at our experience. The owners and staff were incredibly warm and welcoming as was the snug area where we were seated. We felt comfortable as soon as we arrived. Personally we very much enjoy fine dining food without the pretentious atmosphere that sometimes accompanies it and The Carpenters Arms was perfect for us! The food was exquisite, Masterchef The professionals should definitely be considered if not already. Some of our most favourite things from the meal were the satay sauce from the chicken croquettes, confit duck leg and potato terrine on the duck breast dish, the crab tart, The home made bread with butter, the truffle fries, and carrot cake dessert. Highly recommend this place for special occasions and we will definitively come back to try other seasonal menus, lunch menu and afternoon tea! For sure. Thank you so much for a memorable meal.

Great Finds

Went there with my very fussy eater son and husband. Everything was perfect. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for. The staff went above and beyond to help my son eat well ❤️❤️

Absolutely stunning lunch! The service was friendly and attentive. Food was gorgeous and in very generous portions. We had a wheelchair user in our party, and they were quick to sort a ramp and get us a table that was easily accessible. Beautiful cosy pub ?

Stopped here for lunch on the way home from Wales with the children and it's that rare gem of friendly for the family but also with really good food, interesting wine and excellent service. Gutted I can't remember the hosts name but again he was a rarity - full of charisma and competence in equal measure! Loads of nice touches like the little sketch lining that comes under the small plates, well positioned and decorated plates etc! Look forward to passing by there again and strongly recommend!

My wife and I spent a week in Burford and this absolute gem is well worth seeking out. It's about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Burford or a short drive with a sizeable car park. We enjoy fine dining and this compared very favourably with any Michelin experience we have had previously. The fish was superb, the ale is well kept and the suggested wine pairings for the desserts spot on. The staff were attentive and friendly and the prices very reasonable. We would certainly return

Staying in Burford and have been bit disappointed with the pubs on the high street expensive and poor beer. Walked up and had a drink at the carpenters. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff expected to pay a fortune for our drinks but cheaper than Burford high street and good beer. Went back for lunch for a sandwich it was excellent i had the steak baguette it was delicious and you got a side taster of cauliflower soup which was so tasty. We have booked to go for dinner would definitely recommend it is worth the 10 minute walk from Burford high street.

Booked a table for 4 online for a Saturday midday lunch. Greeted with a smile and were able to choose a table. Drinks brought to table. Good selection of food. Nice vegetarian options. Food served hot and all had different dishes. All good and reasonable prices.

We had some great meals in the Cotswolds during a recent stay but this one was so-so. Went on Thursday night for "grill night" but 4 of the menu items (all fish) were "unavailable due to the weather" (it was unseasonably warm but not sure what this had to do with anything). The food we ordered was not bad, just bland. Wait staff was very friendly and sitting outside in the tent was nice. We just had better meals elsewhere.

Just had a lovely meal at the Carpenters Arms. Really delicious food, a cut above. The duo of beef was possibly the best beef I have ever had, desserts fabulous and a great choice of wine by the glass. The three guys at front of house really made it too - great job, welcoming and friendly service.
