My partner and I came for a meal and of course had to go for the pie! We had the local game and red wine pie and omg... It was stunning. Truly a beautiful pie and it really was the best pie we've ever eaten. Full of flavour! The chips and veg with it were lovely too.We also had baked Camembert with fresh bread and cranberry sauce for starters. Everything was faultless. It's worth going to Buford JUST for this pub! Great value for money.Food & drinks: You must have a pie!!

Very good food! A great welcome and dealt with the children in the party perfect. Would definitely revisit. Photo attached, although now that the damage to the top of the pie was me. We didn’t stay over so can’t comment on hotel

Somebody told us that the pies were the best in the country as we walked in. He is probably right. The food is outstanding, we had a beef briekt in peppercorn sauce pie, and a vegetarian bonbay potato pie. Both were wonderful. It was also very kind of the bar manager to find us a table at very short notice on a Saturday evening. We're going back as soon as we can

Lovely meal with friends who were visiting the area. Highly recommend the real pies - NOT stew with a lid. Had a rather magnificent slow braise beef and peppercorn sauce pie with mash and veggies!

Scenic area and DELICIOUS food. We did have to wait a while for the food but it tasted so amazing that it was worth the wait. My husband and I shared the mushroom and truffle pie with mashed potatoes. Others at our table had the baked camembert and the fish and chips. All of it was very good. Would definitely recommend a stop here. And it is dog friendly!

Lovely pub, stopped as we had been looking for somewhere dog friendly. Delicious home made pie, and ham, egg and chips. Pub very nicely decorated, pleasant atmosphere. Very small car park, but a free car park close by and on road parking if available.Food & drinks: Very enjoyable food. Staples like home made pies, fish and chips, burgers...

Went there based on other reviews. Staff were nice. Food was fine for pub food. Quiet day and lacked atmosphere. Almost the only ones there for lunch.

Absolutely delicious pies with crunchy, perfectly cooked veg & creamy mash. I had the mushroom & truffle pie and it was scrummy. Pretty village and friendly staff too!

Good location very quiet at night. All staff members polite helpful and friendly at all times. Good quality breakfast service very good. If you want a good pie this is the place to enjoy one well worth trip.

I can only comment on the dining experience in the pub as I did not stay on the accommodation. The roast is by far one of the best I've ever had, incredibly fragrant beef complimented with a luxuriously tasty gravy.Service was excellent, you can tell the team are well recognised in the local area as everyone addresses one another by name.If you're passing by Burford, have a pitstop here, you won't be disappointed!Food & drinks: Excellent roast!
We stopped off for lunch today in the pub and had a deliciously filling meal of mushroom and truffle pie which came with a generous helping of mashed potato, beans, carrots and cauliflower cheese all beautifully cooked. Husband had Korean BBQ burger with fries which was excellent apparently. Service was impeccable and wonderfully friendly. Bravo to the landlord/lady and team.

We enjoyed the Royal Oak. We had the fishcake salad and brisket/peppercorn pie. Despite being a peppercorn pie, it had too much pepper in my opinion. We still enjoyed our food however. Good drinks and staff were very pleasant

Good casual restaurant, went with family group. The service was excellent, efficient and friendly. The food was good, not great. My burger was average and my husband's steak and ale pie average. He said the meat was dry. Others enjoyed their meal very much. Dessert was actually very good, everything was delicious. Nice spot for lunch.

We had lunch at this great pub tucked away off the main high street. My steak was perfectly cooked and very tasty. My wife had the fish cake which was also very good.
