Stopped for a quick pint on way back from visiting my wife. Beautiful place on the edge of the Cotswolds, friendly staff, good local beer. Not cheap - but, where is nowadays with costs rising all the time? I'm surprised anywhere like this survives. Well worth a visit - especially on a sunny afternoon, with the river burbling, the ducks on the water, and the boats quacking. Perfect. Didn't visit any of the rooms, so cannot comment - but pub/restaurant areas all well kept and well appointed. Enjoy!

I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying here, and I must say that it was a truly disappointing and frustrating experience. From the moment I arrived until the day of my departure, it was clear that the owner's lack of attention and care severely impacted the quality of my stay. The staff seemed equally dissatisfied and unmotivated. Their lack of training and professionalism was evident in their disorganized and unresponsive behaviour. The place was busy, and everything took ages to arrive. We boobed dinner in advance and we waited 1 hour and a half to be seated. Another significant issue was the poor cleanliness standards. The housekeeping service was negligent and failed to properly clean the rooms. I found dust and debris in various corners, and the bathroom was far from sanitary. It was evident that the owner had not implemented effective cleaning protocols or ensured regular inspections.

Great location, nice building with friendly helpful staff, cozy room with all the usual stuff. Comfy bed, nice shower, plenty to do in a 10 minutes drive, my one and only disappointment was the breakfast, the quality was amazing but the "full" English didn't live up to its name. I wasn't full. 1 amazing sausage, 1 bacon, 1 egg, 1 mushroom, half a slice of black pudding, half a slice of tomato, and a tiny bowl of beans.I would definitely return and can highly recommend. (Just fill up on toast or cereal first)

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location, run by a friendly and attentive team. Great breakfast, lovely bedrooms, just a few small bits of attention to detail and it would be perfect (deserved of a 5-star nonetheless).

This was to be my birthday celebration for the weekend. Unfortunately the underfloor heating system wasn't working in the Forge room. It was the coldest day of the year. We were give excuses saying after your dinner it will be on. But surely it should have been switched on by 4pm the arrival time, it wasn't on at 6pm and looked to have a fault. We had tomake to arduous journey driving back home that night in the dark. I have not received any official apology or compensation. I did see a complaint about the heating not working in Oct 2022 so they obviously have do e anything about it.Rooms: There was no underfloor heating, the coldest day of the year. The excuses were it will be warm after dinner, 10pm!!! The heating system was not working and no heat was coming through.Noteworthy details: The rooms should be warm at 4pm, time of arrival.

Lovely, friendly country pub/hotel with very nice accommodation and food. Perfect for sightseeing around Oxford and the local area, including Blenheim Palace. Staff were helpful, welcoming and very friendly and provided everything that we needed for a perfect stay

Very good pub. I have eaten here twice with my family, the food and service on both occasions was very good, everyone was happy! I would recommend this pub as a great place to eat.

The room we stayed in about a year ago or so was so clean and so luxurious, however, the food does seem a little bit expensive but would recommend people coming to the restaurant and hotel

We had a wonderful stay at The Swan Inn. We feel lucky to have found it and loved everything about our stay. Our room was clean, cosy and comfortable. I had two of the best nights sleep there that I have had for a long time. The room was quiet and warm, with views of the orchard garden, river and hills. We loved watching the red kites gather over the fields in the evening. Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked to order. The staff were all lovely, nothing was too much trouble. We loved the Mitford connection with the pub and village. We very much hope to return and stay again.

Having visited 'The Swan Inn' recently , I am appalled to report that the lack of hospitality and flexibility by the staff, especially the disrespectful borderline, racist attitude displayed by the manager, leaves a bad taste in one's mouth. I visited with my mother boasting that this establishment took pride in the food they serve. If only they took pride in the way they treated their customers. We hadn't reserved a table and were told that the kitchen was working at full capacity, and that they were not prepared to provide us with a take away. I asked the waitress if we could reserve a table for the following day and she was fine with that and had a space at 1pm. I was happy to take the reservation, however, still wanted to know if they did a take away. The waitress called the manager to make the enquiry, after all , we had driven over an hour to enjoy the food at the Inn. When the manager spoke to us, he was extremely arrogant and refused to entertain the thought of a take away despite being told that it was only a sandwich we required. I was flexible and asked if we could be booked in the following day, to which he responded in exasperation that they were 'now fully booked' .We were rudely turned away at the door, and I have to say that I have never encountered such bad manners in all of my time living in London. I am not one to play the racist card, but I decided to test the restaurant by making a telephonic booking. I changed my accent and was surprised to find that there were 2 tables available for the 31st.This proves that 'The Swan Inn' is selective about their choice of customer; and it's very apparent that people of colour are not welcomed here. The manager needs to be given the red card for his obnoxious behaviour. Let's hope that in 2023, civilisation and democracy reaches that end of the world.

Very friendly and welcoming. Well kept beer and really nice food. Hot soup and sour dough followed by steak and mushroom pie with piles of delicious vegetables, and then check out the photo of the pudding. Lovely meal.

Totally stunning Food and Service. We didn't stop over so I can't comment on the rooms, but... if the rooms are up to the high standards of the restaurant and the beautiful location... I would definitely book in.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here. The pub is located five minutes off the A40 in a lovely setting. The food, service and atmosphere were all great.

Consistently excellent. Whether summer or winter the pub is fantastic. The service is extremely friendly but also extremely professional. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner last night. Will consider staying there next time.
