100% recommended. The Blue Boar is a lovely pub steeped in character, we will definitely be back soon! One mark down on the food as the sponge pudding was slightly dry, but otherwise the meal was fantastic.Vegetarian options: Plenty of choice and you are asked about any dietary requirements before ordering. Staff were very knowledgeable and efficient.Parking: Plenty of free parking in the town car park (5 mins walk away).

Excellent food and drinks. Especially good roasts but also good vegetarian options. Very careful about allergies and nice old maps on the walls. There are potatoes with most dishes. The cauliflower side dish with cheese is tasty but will require some mixing. Friendly people and staff. The restaurant section requires advance bookings on Sundays but the bar area had lots of space.

Excellent red house wine, mushroom toast plentiful rich and creamy for sharing, butter chicken outstanding, hamburger good. Breakfast excellent. Staff very attentive in quaint surroundings with nice background music.

Pre-movie supper on a Friday night. First time we'd been. Good atmosphere, spacious dining room, friendly and rapid service, fish and chips better than average.

This pub has a good menu from easy eats to bigger meals and so far I have never been disappointed. Great recommendation of the Rose wine from the bar tender so thank you.

We booked a table online. Received a warm welcome and staff were attentive making our visit a memorable occasion. We were served promptly and the food was excellent. Prices were much in keeping with similar establishments in the area. A good experience and would happily return again.

A very underwhelming lunch experience. We had to wait ages after being seated for anyone to see we were ready to order despite being the only people in the restaurant. The member of staff who eventually took our order seemed more interested in cleaning cutlery. When the food arrived it was disappointing to say the least. The gammon was dry and chips lukewarm. The salad was miniscule, and overall we felt a rip off as its not cheap. Won't be going again.

We arrived in Chipping Norton on Bank Holiday Monday 28th August for two nights for our 46th Anniversary on the Tue 29th. We did not stay at the Blue Boar. Unfortunately we did not know that a lot of eating places are shut on Mon and Tue so we booked the Blue Boar for our evening Anniversary meal after someone said food was good there. We both had appetisers which were fine, I ordered the Cray Fish and herb stuffed plaice and my husband had the fish and chips which he said was nice. What I received was indescribable it was just a ball of supposedly fish floating around on a bed of courgettes which were floating around in what I can only describe as a watery "slop". I cut into the ball and the crayfish and plaice disintegrated into the watery mess. After trying it I said to my husband that it was awful. I sent it back and I was offered a replacement which was going to take some time. The courgettes were clearly not drained and I was informed by our waiter that this had happened because of too much butter in the fish, so why serve it? I chose not to order something else as my husband had nearly finished his meal and I did not want to eat alone. It is a real shame that our anniversary meal was spoilt. I would not go there again and I am hoping that I can load the photo of it so you can see what I was served, I am shocked any self respecting chef thought this was okay. No one came out to apologise for the very poor meal let alone mention our anniversary being ruined. They were advised of the anniversary well in advance but neglected it completely.

Excellent dog friendly pub, great menu with some seriously tasty food. Nice and lively on a weekend evening. Lots of wine and beer choice! Plenty of parking on the high street or a short walk round the corner opposite the Sainsbury's car park. Would definitely return again in the future.

As a family we decided to meet half way as I live in Milton Keynes and my mum and stepdad live in Cheltenham and a roast in a Sunday is the way forward. Sadly this is not the place for a roast. I had the the pork, the meat was delicious and tender… the roast potatoes were like bullets and my daughter had the string from the pork on her plate. The beef was tasty but so tough to cut, steak knives would of been a welcome addition. The service was slow to clear plates etc… and we had to go to the bar to ask for our bill! We felt a little forgotten. I would not go back.

This is our second visit . The food was fabulous. Great variety of food on the menu to choose from. We had the roast beef and it never fails to impress. Staff are friendly and attentive.

Nice interior with various areas to sit. Ate early so only two staff around, one delightful and doing everything to help. Had mains and pud, parts were very pleasant, parts less so. All topped off with a delicious sounding poached peach pudding that arrived without any peach in it, most eccentric. Would probably have to eat here again to see what other dishes are like, but I can't be bothered.
