Food/drink - just the job, we only had soup, a fish finger sandwich and a Diet Coke but can’t fault for the price and convenience.Service - friendly and helpful.Atmosphere - quiet but didn’t expect anything else on a Thursday afternoon.Lovely olde worlde pub!

Very Olde Worlde - it still maintains its 17th Century heritage whilst being warm and welcoming. Lovely food. Friendly staff. Can be an issue finding a parking place but you can park further along the road.

We spent the weekend in Chipping Norton, so visited the local establishments during our stay and decided this little gem was the best as a traditional pub. Firstly I would like to thank Alex for making us extremely welcome which was very much appreciated in which he his so proud of this pub. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and an extremely good pint of Guinness, the best in Chipping Norton in my opinion. Loved they layout of the pub which keeps its character. Thanks again, and glad the Badger came back safe & Well.Pete & Claire

After 1h of waiting time, we were told they were starting to prepare our order and they ran out of one of the dishes. The food took 1h40 to arrive, and was not good. Ok pie but overcooked roast beef and microwaved frozen veggies. Do not

Having waited for the pub to open on an extremely hot Saturday I noticed that an employee had opened the front door to take something out.Asking her whether the pub was open I was barked at with "well the doors open isn't it!!"I walked inside to be greeted with "what do do you want!" And not in a polite manner. At this point I walked out having said that a nicer attitude would have been better.Never tried the beer, food or anything else, but the hospitality is lacking and shockingly poor.

It had been 58 years since I last stepped in this pub and not a lot has changed to the building structure except a dining facility. The beer and wine was excellent and the food was matching it. The steak and kidney suet pastry main course was one of the best I have ever tasted. Incidentally, you couldn't get food there 58 years ago!

Tremendous value. Could not believe the last negative review so glad we ignored their comments. We have just returned from a great day out in the Cotswolds, Booked a table at the Chequers, the beef was so tender & tasty my wife ordered the turkey both served with roast potato’s & fresh vegetables. The whole bill came to £31 plus drinks. All served with a smile with very little waiting. The food was good honest home cooked food, what more would you want? Yes you can go to a 4* Michelin eatery pay 4 times the price with bottles of wine starting at £35, but for a good tasty Sunday lunch this was impossible to beat.

Unfortunately we had a terrible meal here. The Vegetable Wellington was undercooked, the pastry raw (pretty much inedible),it was served alongside salad straight from a bag, potatoes with no seasoning, gravy or even butter and a sad portion of beans and peas. It was really poor and disappointing. Service was friendly but not very attentive, we were not told about the specials available, no one came to ask how the meal was or if we needed more drinks. I definitely would not recommend eating here.

Truly awful food. A gammon steak like an old boot dragged through a ditch, and an undercooked vegetable wellington. Cask ale was poorly kept, if not off. Cannot fault the friendly service, but food should be avoided.

I'm working this way so came in for a Sunday dinner and I can honestly say it was pitiful! I decided to come because it was actually good value compared to other places where you pay 20 quid with extras of CARROTS on top. So thought 16 quid was a bargain. Not when I found out it features frozen Yorkshire puddings and veg with less taste than an ice cube. Staff and tje building were nice or it would have been a 1

Unfortunately the website needs updating. Arrived on Sunday food stops at 4 not 8.Menu is also totally different and a bit more expensive.Lovely looking pub so hopefully we get a chance next time.

Just visited this excellent pub in Chipping Norton. The food was fantastic and the service was very good. Great British food at a very good price.

Had fish and chips here last week and sadly it wasn’t very good. The chips were tasteless & the fish was very unpleasant. Ended up leaving most of my meal as I couldn’t eat it. Waitress was very polite and attentive, she rushed us through so that we could order before a large party ordered.

This is not a review of the food available at the restaurant as we were not able to go. I booked a table for 4 on 3rd July for 18th July. It was confirmed over the phone. I phoned again on 14th July to check that the booking was in their diary and it was confirmed again. On 16th July (i.e. 2 days before our booking) I received a call to say that my booking was cancelled due to 'kitchen refurbishment'! We were very disappointed. Very poor service.

I visited the Chequers this evening with my husband we met Marion, Tom and Alli who have just taken it over and said it was their first day. They plan to start serving food next week. I wish them well. They were friendly welcoming and niece to chat too.
