This was a special dinner and on arrival the duty manager greeted me and showed me our allocated table. VERY good service, attentive and not at all rushed. I WILL be visiting again soon when i move to the area. Thanks for a freat night.

The food was amazing - we had the halloumi burger and beef cheeks which were melt in your mouth. The staff were really welcoming and friendly, and the decor and atmosphere were cosy and rustic. Dog friendly too! Such a great find.

Beautiful old pub - perfectly maintained and a fantastic atmosphere. The food we had - slow cooked beef cheek with mash for one of us and the other fried haddock and homemade chunky chips was absolutely delicious - accompanied by a Merlot Corvina and a Mezzogiorno Rosato - both lovely. Not the cheapest place to eat - but so worth the money! A superb lunch - we will definitely be back!

We had the French menu and the food was so good. I had snails and mushrooms on toast which was so delicious, my party had veal, boar stew, steaks which were all so good. To top it off we all had to-die-for desserts. I love everything about The Chequers, obviously the food is sublime, service excellent and always a really good buzz with lots of customers.. great atmosphere. Love it, we will return ?

I was really pleased to see treacle tart on the menu - one of my favourites. However, when it arrived it just tasted of lemon - so disappointing. I spoke to the waiter about it and was offered an alternative which I didn’t want and so it was taken off the bill. Very good service. I had the full Xmas dinner which was really good.

The actual pub itself is beautiful . Service great and friendly but the food is just NOT as good as it’s always been . I’m not sure if they have changed the chef … It’s not the worst meal we’ve had at all and not complain worthy particularly but definitely not what we’ve become accustomed to at the Chequers . It’s a shame . Still lovely and still worth a visit but food just ok .

We enjoyed a great Sunday roast last weekend. All the staff were very polite and helpful and the Maitre D' was great when the people who were on our table were finishing - he made sure our wait wasn't too long. The food was absolutely delicious and abundant. The meat was cooked perfectly (beef and chicken) and both gravies were so tasty. Sadly we were too full for dessert. The price reflected the excellent meal we had. So glad we have such great pubs with such incredible food and service nearby. We went recently for a birthday and it was equally as fabulous.
