The Moon & Sixpence
9 Main St, Hanwell, BanburyThe Sunday lunch is a lovely outing into beautiful country gardens. The lunch is a generous helping and tasty home style cooked meal. I had the short ribs and it was fall off the bone tender. The meal was bulked up with chicken that was also tasty but I could have done without it as what I wanted was short rib, I would far have preferred another rib. The vegetables and rice were cooked well and the gravy was very tasty. The roasted beetroot was the star of the vegetables.
To finish off the meal I had Malva pudding and custard.
The staff was super friendly and very attentive.
If you are after fine dining this is not it however if you feel like is a really relaxing Sunday lunch that is filling and delicious, and is also great for the whole family from Granny to the babies this very pretty venue makes for a nice outing. Personally if the weather is good I would choose to sit at a table in the garden as the gardens are well maintained and beyound beautiful in a rustic manner. The very well large old trees also provide great shade.
