Really nice food and friendly service at a price.Nearby activities: Ideally placed for the white horse, Uffington castle and the Ridgeway.

We had a lovely time at the pub, the food was good and the atmosphere was very friendly. Definitely recommended.Walkability: The surrounding area is just lovely, beautiful Oxfordshire rural countryside.Food & drinks: We had a Sunday lunch and had a lovely meal, although it could have been a bit warmer and a few more vegetables would have been nice. But all in all, it was worth the money we paid, and the pub was lovely!Noteworthy details: The Uffington White Horse is within easy walking distance, and there's an excellent view from the top of the hill.

The White Horse is a consistently good place to eat and drink. The location is exceptional with the Uffington White Horse nearby and the quaint village. If you're lucky you might get a table outside in front of the pub but, if not, there is plenty of accommodation inside or in the courtyard out the back. The beer is from Arkells and a decent pint. The food on offer is comprehensive pub fare and consistently good (I have been there many times). I especially enjoyed the most generous ham and egg platter I've had for some time and other members of our party enjoyed the scampi and chips equally. Portions are generous. Friendly, confident staff. Decent service.Nearby activities: Uffington White Horse and other related historic sites on the Ridgeway

Staff were fuming about actually having to work.I overheard them making angry sarcastic comments about a large group that came in.They also replied harshly and with attitude.Great location though, the food and drink weren't bad. It's a shame the staff have a complex.

A reasonable evening with good food, spoilt by a loud foul mouthed guy, who seemed to be so dim that he did not recognise ladies serving behind the bar and others including my wife, who were grossly offended by his language. He was accompanied by an attractive young lady as well who seemed to sense that his village idiot approach to the matter was not an attractive one. I did ask him to cut the language and he retorted who are you and I said someone who respects other people and abhors the use of expletives to join sentences together due to lack of grammar, about the same of the over use of the word like. His girlfriend was obviously embarassed and within seconds they had left the bar.

I've been visiting this pub for a couple of years and service is average, sometimes very slow for a not busy pub.Lots of little dogs today......and a large dog poo covered in flies....dry and old sitting in the middle of the back garden providing a wonderful vista for all the punters ?Didn't hang around.

We were lucky enough to enjoy two restful and delightfully cozy nights at the White Horse and I wish we could have stayed longer. Our room was clean and comfortable and quiet. The restaurant serves up delicious meals, but oh-my-goodness the breakfast is fantastic and will keep you going all day. The staff were warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. After we arrived, I sat outside in the pretty garden on a warm summer's evening and savored a perfect G&T--a delightful interlude after a hectic day.

Absolutely stunning place to stay. Rooms were very comfy. The food and staff at the pub were excellent. Will deff be back

Lovely place to stay and eat. Not 5 stars because no WiFi in the rooms (and that's a must in 2023) and almost zero network signal, so all you've got for comms and internet is WiFi.

Lovely food, especially impressed with the pizza , they even had vegan cheese as an option!

Very disappointed with our visit today. Noone greeted when we arrived. Had roast beef which was very bland. Vegs no flavour at all..roast potatoes definitely not home made. Did not see one member of staff smile or look happy in their work. Shame as this had always had such a good reputation for quality food and service. Would not go back.

We sayed for one night while visiting the nearby White Horse Hill, Uffington Castle and Waylands Smithy. On arrival there was plenty of space in the adjacent car park. We were met at the bar by a friendly member of staff who gave us the key and directed us to a room in the building next to the pub. The room was basic, but clean and had tea/coffee making facilities and a tv. We were in room 6 which seems to have accommodation on the floor above. There's not much sound proofing but we weren't disturbed by noise. However, for some reason the outside lights (one of which is right above the entrance) and I'm guessing is on a shared circuit with other residents came on a few times in the night and was a bit intrusive. We ate an evening meal (vegan burger) which was very tasty and staff were happy to change the vegan cheese for regular cheese. However the other vegetarian item on the menu was off and the food took a good while to turn up. Another customer was heard complaining that he'd waited an hour and a half. The bar has a good range of beers and there is outdoor seating at the front and rear of the pub. Breakfast was fine and they were happy to provide a vegetarian version of the full english.

Went for a family dinner last Saturday. Ordered from the great young lad at the bar. Mains came before starters! Not a good start. Mains came, veg pasta was one order. Mac and cheese came out, not doing very well here are we!. Next main, gluten free scampi, asked if was GF, turns our it wasn't! 2nd 3rd main was ok, but extremely poor excuse for a bugger bun! Had issues with the vegi pasta as communication isn't a strong point here. Could here the older lady commenting on some of the issues we had rather loudly throughout the pub. Again not great! Didn't even offer a discount when we settled the bill. Email started and ready to be sent to Arkells brewery with the white horse CC'ed in. Get yourself comfortable when that comes through.

A beautiful location, and proper ‘old world’ looking country inn, and warm welcome and a good breakfast - but what a disappointing room. Room 6 - much more tired looking than in the photos, and with an adjoining door to room 5 that seemed so thin that hat we heard every word spoken in there as if it had been open - and got to listen to our neighbour snore most of the night. But more disappointing was the really low level of cleanliness. Some surfaces didn’t look liked they’d been cleaned in quite some time. I just couldn’t stay there again!!
